Sonic, Spyro, Cynder and Sparx searched high and low for Meadow, but there was no sign of him. "This is a waste of time." Said Sonic. "We won't be able to find Meadow at this rate." Then Sparx heard some noises coming from the waterfall. "I heard something!" said Sparx. "It's coming from over there." Replied Cynder. "Tell me we are not going through there?" asked Sonic, gulping. Spyro looked at Sonic with a funny look on his face. "You're not afraid of the dark, are you?" asked Spyro. "No, but I'm afraid of water." Answered Sonic. "Well, you can triangle jump through it, can't you." The purple dragon asked again. Sonic was reluctant about the idea at first, but finally gave in. "I'll try." As he walked near the edge of the lower part of the waterfall. Sonic took a deep breath and jumped through the waterfall. Spyro, Cynder and Sparx flew into the cave. "The noise is getting louder." Said Sonic. It sounded like someone was calling for help. Quickly, the group went through the cave and found a cheetah with his limbs tied to some chains. It had to be Meadow. As they were about to free him, the grublins jumped out of the ground. "It's a trap!" shouted Cynder. Sonic grabbed hold of his sword and charged at a grublin. As he did, the sword started to catch fire. Sonic struck the sword at the grublin causing it to disintergrate into ash. Spyro and Cynder used their fury breath at the grublins. But an armoured grublin was about to strike the dragons from behind until Sonic got in the way. Sonic used the sword to spray ice cold water at the grublin.
The grublin screamed. "Grublins, washed and chilled." Said Sonic. The blue hedgehog shoved his sword into the ground and released an ice storm at the grublin, turning it into an ice statue. Smiling, Sonic walked up to the statue and whistled, while he pushed it, causing it to shatter into pieces. Sonic turned to the reader and replied "It was already cracked." After the fight, Sonic and Spyro released Meadow from his chains, "Thank you friends." Replied Meadow. "You saved my life." "Finally, some gratitiude. You're welcome." Said Sparx. "You've met Chief Prowlus no doubt." Meadow said. "Not all of us are of the same mind." "Well, that's putting it mildly, isn't it ?" replied Cynder. "Can you move?" asked Spyro. "We need to get you out of here." Meadow slowly tried to get up, but fell back down again. "I'm sorry." Meadow apologized. "I'm afraid my leg is broken. Just return to the village and tell them where I am." "Your leader doesn't trust us." explained Spyro. "If we return without you, he'll likely assume the worst." "Yeah, and blame us for it." Cynder said. Sonic was in disbelief. "What a dumbass." Sonic said, to himself. Meadow was annoyed about what the two dragons said to him. "Agh! The fool!" growled Meadow. But the cheetah calmed down quickly. "I understand. There's a raft at the other end of the valley, if you could bring it here, perhaps I could pull myself onto it." Said Meadow. "OK! We'll do it." "To launch it, you need the weights from the supply cave, but it's locked." Replied Meadow. "Oh, that figures." Commented Sparx. "Let me guess?" said Sonic. "We have to find the key that unlocks the door, so we can haul the boat all the way to here." Meadow nodded. "OK! So where is it?" asked Sonic "There's a path that leads to a hermit that holds the key. But the cave is hidden." Explained Meadow. "Look for markings on the wall to open the path." "We'll come back for you. I promise." Said Spyro. The dragons and Sonic left the cave to search for the hermit.
Sitting nearby a tree, Shadow was watching the scenery in front of him. Knuckles came up to him. "I don't understand you sometimes." Commented Knuckles. "Every single time we stop Eggman's schemes or whetever you always carry your troubles with you." Shadow glared at Knuckles angrily. "They don't concern you!" shouted the black hedgehog, with his fists tightened." Knuckles shook his head. "Fine, but the next time you need help, it's not going to come! So you can handle things yourself!" replied Knuckles, walking away. "Now that's the smartest thing I've ever heard from a stupid echidna like yourself." Commented Shadow. Knuckles stopped. "Did you call me stupid?" asked Knuckles. "Obviously!" remarked Shadow, sarcastically. Suddenly, Knuckles punched Shadow in the face. "You son of a...!" growled Shadow. Then Shadow and Knuckles fought each other. They kicked and they punched each other everywhere until Sonic got in the way. "The both of you stop!" shouted Sonic. As Knuckles put down his fists, Shadow walked off. "Shadow, where are you going?" asked Sonic "Somewhere I don't have to see your f***ugly face!" shouted Shadow, as he put his middle finger up at Sonic and Knuckles. Sonic shook his head and continued his mission along with the dragons. "Sonic, can I come?" asked Knuckles "It saves me from being beaten up again." "Sure." Answered Sonic. So, Knuckles caught up with Sonic and the dragons.
