Sonic and Shadow drew their swords and charged at each other. Sonic kicked Shadow's face and shoved his sword right through his shoulder. He drew it out again when Shadow got back up. Shadow tried to punch Sonic, but missed. As Shadow attempted to punch him again, Sonic grabbed hold of Shadow's arm and swung the dark hedgehog into a building. Sonic walked up to the dark hedgehog. "You might as well surrender, Shadow." Said Sonic. "The more we fight, the more you're gonna get killed." "I will NEVER surrender." Growled Shadow. "Not until I kill Spyro." "Not on my watch." Said Sonic. "Then you will die as well!" shouted Shadow. Shadow immediately got up and head-butted Sonic. Sonic quickly grabbed his sword and shot a fiery dart at the dark hedgehog. Shadow screamed. Shadow grabbed his pistols and tried to shoot the armoured hedgehog. But Sonic used the wind power of the sword which caused the bullets to go to another direction. Quickly, Sonic used the power of ice to freeze the Shadow's hands and pistols. Shadow used his dark energy to melt the ice. Once that happened, Shadow grabbed hold of Sonic's neck and flew into air. "Let's see if you survive 50 foot fall." Mocked Shadow. Sonic wiggled his feet helplessly until he kicked Shadow really hard at the chest. The two hedgehogs fell and crashed into the ground. Sonic got up to see Shadow, weakened and unconsious. The darkness within Shadow was gone. "Will Shadow be alright?" asked Spyro. "We'll just have to wait and see." Answered Sonic. Suddenly, an explosion was heard. "It's coming from the gate." Said Cynder. The group ran to the front of the city. Once they got there, a green giant whose lower arms were made out of rocks was trying to open the gates, so that the enemy would continue to invade. "Man, that's big." Said Knuckles. "We have to stop him before something bad happens." Said Spyro. Spyro and Cynder flew into the air and used their elemental powers to distract it. Knuckles smiled. "This is gonna be easy." Said Knuckles. The echidna ran to the giant an climbed onto its arm. "Knuckles, what are you doing?" shouted Sonic. The giant saw him and tried to squash Knuckles, but missed. Knuckles jumped off the giants arm and shoved one of his swords into the giant's red eye. The giant growled and snorted. Knuckles swung himeself on top giant's head and shoved his other sword right through the giant's mouth. Using all his strength, Knuckles pulled the swords cross-wise, causing the giant's head to split apart. The giant's body fell onto the ground. "Ha! Dumbass." Joked Knuckles. "Great job, Knuckles!" said Sonic. A mole satnding on top of the city wall cried. "The Dark Master's forces are turning away!" Sonic and the others went on the top of the city wall to see that the mole was right. "Yes, we won!" cheered Knuckles. "That's right! Keep running!" cheered Sonic But Spyro wasn't cheering. He sensed something was wrong. "Spyro, what's wrong?" Asked Cynder. "Something's not right." Said Spyro. "Look!" The group saw what Spyro was looking at. The army was tuning back. "Strange, we'v won. Yet they still want to fight." Said Blaze. Then, in the distance, a noise was heard. Sonic and Spyro looked in the distance to see what it was. It was the Golem. "Oh, we're in big trouble." Said Sonic. "Hush little baby, please don't cry." Whimpered Sparx "Mommy's gonna get you a monster that wants to kill me." The golem saw a building and shoved what was left of its left arm right through it. The building shifted into what would've been an arm. Marvelling its new arm, the golem smashed a tower into the ground. The group saw four large dragons flying into the sky. Hunter appeared to the group. Spyro. Cynder. Find somewhere to hide. Sonic, Knuckles, Blaze. You're with me." Said Hunter. Knuckles and Blaze followed Hunter. "I have to stop that creature." Said Spyro. "I'm not gonna sit here and hide." "Well, what are we waiting for?" said Sonic. "Let's go kick some golem ass!" Sonic, Spyro and Cynder went to another part of the city to find a way to attack the golem. Sonic saw a tower that was next to the golem. "That tower, if we are able to get there fast enough, we might have a better chance to finish that golem off once and for all." Said Sonic. "Sounds like a good idea." Said Spyro. Suddenly, the golem's tail smacked right in front of them. Spyro and Cynder made it to the other side while Sonic was stuck on the opposite side of the crushed building. Sonic had another idea. "Wish me luck?" said Sonic. Spyro and Cynder looked at him. "What are you doing?" asked Spyro. "Catapulting." Answered Sonic, waiting for the golem's tail to appear in front of him. As it did, Sonic jumped on the tail and flew off it as the tail swung him off. "Yeeeehaaaa!" shouted Sonic. He landed on the golem's head. "Hi there! Remember me?" scoffed Sonic. The golem roared. Sonic drew his sword and stabbed it at the golem's eye. He used its ice power to make the golem's eye to freeze.The golem screamed and punched the ice on its eye, resulting for its right eye to be destroyed. "Ha! That's for punching me last time." Shouted Sonic. The hedgehog jumped onto the golem's right arm and ran off it. He landed on another tower and saw one of the large dragons trying to attack the golem by spinning round right through the golem's chest and going right through its back. The green dragon kept flying upwards to attack again, but the golem breathed fire at the dragon, weaking it. Sonic was shocked. "You creep. This one's gonna cost you an arm!" shouted Sonic. Without a moment to lose, Sonic jumped into the air and performed an aerial spin-dash attack right through the golem's reconstructed arm, destroying it. The golem screamed. "Serves you right." Said Sonic. The hedgehog ran to rejoin Spyro and Cynder.
Once he caught up with the two dragons, the three of them realized that the golem was approaching towards where the citizens of the city were hiding from the enemy. "Let's finish off that golem once and for all." Said Spyro.
After lying unconsious, Shadow got up. "Oh, what happened?" Malefor appeared to him. "Shadow, destroy the purple dragon. Your master commands you." Said Malefor. "Let me tell you something, I don't take orders from anyone, especially you." Said Shadow "So, get out of my sight." Shadow walked off to find Sonic and the others.
In his lair, Malefor roared. "That hedgehog has betrayed me. But no matter, It's time for me to take matters into my own paws."
