Master 'Moriluna' P.O.V
I tightened my jaw in minute annoyance. These foolish people, trying to solve a problem that had been in the workings for years; ridiculous to even consider. But one must also commend their stubborn and tenacious actions, and be sure to indirectly thrash them back to the ground.
I leaned back in the leather chair, the sound of breathing lightly heard over the speaker, "Make sure to adjust their findings and add misdirection. We can't have them inadvertently finding something else of interest while gnawing at these loose threads."
Thinking of Adline who was playing the 'mother' and currently handling the other monetary affairs, I could only lightly regret the restrictions I had put on the number of 'family members' and 'free leash' pets. I lightly considered the idea of getting a 'pet' for Angel, perhaps to give him more connection and enable him to better relax into his new 'home' but also to protect him on occasions such as these.
I had not considered having to leave for issues such as these, though I had never before had to worry about Aeon or Aeri, both of which could handle themselves for the most part. The true issues were the higher number of very reclusive collectors that were not well known like the collectors that often interacted with their like-minded others. That, and the fact that they had to also care for Angel, who was still mostly a mystery to the collectors present.
But once he became more well-known, I had no doubt that it wouldn't only be one or two times that I would have to show not to touch my property without permission. The other issue was the fact that both Aeon and Aeri have their own jobs and skills requiring them to be free of the constraints that came with monitoring and protecting Angel.
Thinking through these issues once more made it imperative to make some calls on how to deal with this Underlord and that doctor, increase the connections in some of the middling areas the business was unable to make a large breakthrough with and find not only a good babysitter for Angel, but also perhaps a 'pet'. To be sure, most of these tasks came at the correct time, as there were all kinds of people and beings circulating under this expansive roof at this time.
I still couldn't believe how quickly that doctor was able to see through the little puppets I left behind, though the length of time in which they were used was quite amusing. This fact also brought to mind the need to call that little... Seneschal. While the newest drug cocktail blueprints indeed often came from my Pharmaceutical Scientists, it was more of an unsavory choice of job description. Therefore, the Seneschal not long ago, after coming under new management, took up the torch for distribution, bulk manufacturing and marketing. And we had good business going; a more amiable environment between us to be sure. I still often used their assassins for many of the more annoying little bugs that thought they were smart.
With my assistance, I gained royalty fees plus a portion of profits depending on how much their assassins were used. And they were great at what they did. If you wanted something to happen to someone, they followed your specific instructions unless given free reign. If you told them to make it quiet, an 'accident', a body in a locked room covered in blood, and so on, they would do it. But one must also realize that there are limits to assassins. There are some people that cannot be reached through such means.
And, in this case, that Underlord is one of them, which will require a much longer and more underhanded method for him to be dealt with. Anything less and not only would the assignment fail, but most likely that damn dog would hold onto that tail until it dragged him to a true piece of information; we couldn't have that.
I waited several seconds with my fingers steepled as the phone rang before connecting, "Hey there, you know I have a deadline right now for my story. Now's not the best time, what with the other things I'm getting ready for."
