Lilias woke from her stone slumber with a groan. It had snowed during the few weeks since meeting Goliath's clan and a chill hung in the air. She watched as Bonnie, Elspeth, and Shona took off for a quick patrol. Donnan and Gillian also took off, saying something about watching a new movie. They may not get along too well, but they were the only guys in the group discounting Ivar. Lilias sighed as she realized that she still hadn't told Goliath that she was her group's clan leader, but Lilias assumed that he had either figured it out or had guessed at the very least. Within the past weeks, they had met the three others of the Manhattan clan: an older gargoyle named Hudson, a gargoyle beast named Bronx, and a third younger male named Lexington. Lilias saw an instant connection between Elspeth and Lexington. Both were curious about the world around them and loved spending time with each other to figure various things out. Shona and Bonnie enjoyed spending time with Broadway; they helped him practice his culinary skills. Ivar and Hudson got along well, and Aileen seemed to be the mother of both groups. Lilias herself appreciated the times that she and Goliath had to talk about various troubles and his experiences during the time of castles and Vikings. She also liked talking to Brooklyn about his memories. It was a little easier to talk to him; he being closer to her age than Goliath. That and he actually knew of her position in her clan. While he might've told Goliath, Lilias wasn't about to go blathering on about the subject. Lilias sighed as she sat perched on the edge of the roof. She was itching to fly for some reason and smiled when she glanced Goliath and his clan soaring between buildings.
"Ivar, I'm going out to patrol with Goliath's clan. I'll be back later." The older male nodded from his position next to his mate. They were preparing a meal for when everyone would return. Lilias jumped off the building and flew quickly to join the other clan before they disappeared from view. She didn't have to worry about that because when she caught up they were being attacked. Goliath was in the middle of setting down a limp Brooklyn on a snow covered roof. She landed next to them.
"Stay with him," Goliath said. Lilias simply nodded as the other clan leader jumped off the building to rejoin the fight. She desperately wanted to join him in dispatching the hovering human who had done this, but right now Brooklyn needed to be protected. She added Broadway and Lexington to the list as they came crashing down, entangled in an electrified net. She ignored the shock as she tore the thing off them and checked them for further injuries. Hudson came down next. He was coughing and a powder of some sort shimmered around him.
"Farewell, my enemies," the silver haired man said simply as he aimed an odd looking gun in their direction.
"No!" She barely heard Goliath as her eyes burned red and a warmth built up in the back of her throat. She launched herself at the man, opening her jaws wide as she roared her fury. A thick stream of fire accompanied her rage and hit the man's machine. It sizzled from the heat and spiraled down to the ground, exploding on contact. Lilias could feel all eyes on her but all she could do was stare at the flaming rubble in shock.
What the heck had she just done?
