A red car hurried around the cliffside road in the pouring rain. Three silhouettes followed in the air, close behind the vehicle.

"Sorry boys," Elisa said into the small microphone that was attached to her collar, "I owe you big time."

"It's ok," Lexington reassured her as he glided next to Broadway and Donnan. "If some voice over the phone told me that the powerplant was going to melt down tonight, I wouldn't have taken any chances either."

"Thanks guys, you're real troupers," she responded as the group continued down the road. Donnan shifted and tried to swerve to the side as a large gargoyle dropped down from above and hit all three of the other gargoyles. "Lex," Elisa started, worry in her voice. "You three all right?"

"Something hit us," Lex responded as he fell through the drenched air. "It's got me!" Donnan back winged and turned in time to see the mysterious other gargoyle throw Lexington into Broadway. Lex's headset fell off with the force. Donnan dove towards the two to help them right themselves.

Down below them, Elisa was clueless. "Lex, what's going on up there?" When he didn't respond, she tried again. "Lex!" Suddenly the other gargoyle swopped down in front of Elisa's car, causing her to swerve of the wet road. She barely stopped the car on the edge of the cliff. She got out of her car just as the three gargoyles landed next to her car.

"Woah, that was close," Broadway said.

"You okay, Elisa?" Lexington asked. "What happened?"

"I'm not sure, something came and forced me off the-" Elisa was cut off by a bolt of lightning hitting a nearby hill, illuminating the outline of a very familiar gargoyle. "Goliath?" she said uncertainty. The figure on the rocky hill started laughing evilly into the night air; Elisa and the three other gargoyles looked at each other, confused by the sudden turn of events.

The four made their way back to the clocktower and told the others of the events of the night. Hudson and the others listened intently. "And when the thunder passed, Goliath was gone," Elisa said finishing her tale.

"You should have heard his laugh," Lexington added. "Make my hair stand on end, if I had any."

"Hmm," Hudson mused. "That doesn't sound like the Goliath I know."

"Tell me about it," Elisa replied.

"No," Broadway interjected, "let's have Goliath tell us about it. Where is he?" He glared into the night sky expectantly.

"He, Brooklyn, and Lilias are out on patrol," Hudson hesitated as he too looked out over the city. "At least, that's where he said they'd be. With dawn fast aproaching they probably found a ledge to spend the day on." Hudson hopped up onto the stone railing. "Somewhere Goliath would feel safe." With that the gargoyles positioned themselves for the day.
