??? POV (2)

I flew high in the sky to avoid the troubling humans. They had drove us from our homes and our mountains. The few of us there were sought safety in their national parks and other places that were similarly protected. I stared down at the lights of the stars as they were reflected in the wide river. The water called to me as it did to all of my kind. Eventually the music of the waves would get to be too much to resist and I would join my ancestors in the deep. My father had embraced the call not even ten years ago. I was still bitter about the sacrifice that he had made to protect those cursed gargoyles. If he hadn't of thrown his life away, I'm sure that we wouldn't be so endangered. I huffed a pulm of smoke and shook out my scales as I prepared to return to my hidden cave. A distinctive roar hit my sensitive ears and I whipped my head towards the noise. Far away from the commotion of the city a streak of red lit up the river bank briefly. I glided down slowly and watched the bank carefully. Three smaller figures stood huddled together and I studied them closely. I recognised the red male on the left; he had been trapped in stone the last time I had seen him. I barely held back my flames at the sight of him and the sacrifices that had happened to keep him and his clan safe. To distract myself, I turned my attention to the other two. The green male on the other side I assumed was from a different clan. What really held my attention was the female in the center. Her wings glittered faintly in the starlight and her ivory skin reflected the light of the moon.

"No," I whispered to myself as I stared at the female. "He wouldn't have." But the truth just stared up at me as she tilted her head back and blew out a small stream of fire before smiling at the two males beside her. I turned sharply and bolted through the sky to spread the news.
