Beep, beep, beep! My hand slams down on the top button of my alarm clock. I woke up a few minutes ago, but just decided to chill for a bit. My eyes slowly make their way to the clock that sits on my night stand, and give it a hearty glare. I sigh and reluctantly throw my blanket off of me, then plop my feet into my furry slippers. I grab the clothes I laid out the night before, dark blue skinny jeans, a spaghetti strap black tank top, and a blue jean jacket. I head to the bathroom and let the warm water wash over my caramel colored face, and allow the minty toothpaste fill my entire mouth. When finished, I go downstairs and eat some cheerios mixed with frost flakes. Yessssssss. After breakfast, I put my hair in a fishtail braid. I throw on my sneakers, chew a gum, and grab my book bag and lunch bag. Yes a lunch bag, I may be in the 10th grade but I am not eating school lunch. Lastly I say goodbye to my mom and dad and I am out the door.
I am just strolling along down the street, but my sixth sense begins kicking in. Using my peripheral vision, I look to the right, left even above my head. But there is nothing there. Finally I look up at the sky, pretending to be fascinated by a bird's nest but I am actually looking at everything behind me. If someone really is watching me, I don't want them to get a clear look at my face. I see a few men maybe three in a black van a few yards behind me. The one in the passenger seat whispers something to the driver. I begin walking at lightning speed with long strides and in seconds I am right next to a busy road. I turn around to see them driving off. But before they get away, I hide behind a tree and look at their license plate number. To my surprise I was met with a slick metal back. I roll my eyes and let out a sigh, and make my way to school.

Upon entering the school building I am immediately approached by two of my friends Christina and Natalya. I sit with them at our usual table. Later on Ryan, Eric, and Tyler show up.
Me: "Hey guys."
The guys: "Hey."
Christina:" UUUUGGGHHH Mrs. Rodriguez gave us soo much homework for no reason!"
All of us nod our heads in agreement and go off into a whole discussion about our different teachers. Then my bestie Raquel shows up, and takes a seat next to me.
Raquel:" Hey Lexi, sup guys!"
Lexi is a nickname my full name is Alexis. Everyone says hi to Raquel, but then there is silence. It begins to feel awkward so then I say," By any chance have you guys seen strange black vans with no license plate number following you?" At first I think they are going to ignore me and tell me I have a stalker but to my surprise Tyler, Eric, and Raquel agree to seeing a strange black van following them. Geez I didn't know Mt. Vernon had a new supply of stalkers in town.
Suddenly I get a text from my dad.
Dad:" Stay safe in school, be careful. Love you."
My eyebrows furrow in confusion, but regardless I reply,"OK daddy love you too."
Tyler and Raquel shoot me a look and I say, "My dad sent me a text telling me to be careful." They just shrug, and all of us make our way to the stairway to go to class.
However I stop dead in my tracks when I see a bunch of cars being parked outside. Cars exactly identical to the one that was following me this morning. What am I on the top ten list of America's most wanted or something? Men and women of various ages dressed in all black, except for white button up shirts, hop out of the vans and walk straight into the school like their running the show. I hear Natalya whisper, "What is this men in black gone wrong?" I smirk at the comment, she always was a funny one.
I see the guy who was in the passenger seat of the van that was following me. I finally get a good look at his face, once the shades come off. It's amazing what you can tell about a person from their eyes alone. His icy blue eyes tell me he has a plan. I have no idea what it is but I can tell he is determined and must have or will work hard to accomplish his goal. But I also catch a glimpse of a hopeful look, almost a sad, tired, kind of hopeful, as if he's been waiting for a long time. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this. After the 'men in black' are up the stairs, the students head up. Those people walked simultaneously, as if they were being controlled. If I didn't know better I would say that they were, but who's to say I truly know better? I push the thought away and head to my locker like everyone else does.
