Alfie: Wake up, Jerome. It’s time for breakfast.

Jerome opened his red eyes, looking at Alfie. He had slept for 4 hours. “Probably the longest time I’ve been able to sleep”, he thought.

Alfie: We’re in charge of the kitchen today.

Jerome sat in his bed, and started getting ready. Patricia knocked on their door, and opened after Jerome’s quiet ‘Come in’.

Patricia: I know you had a tough night, how are you feeling?

Alfie looked at Patricia, then Jerome.

Alfie: Joy had a nightmare again?

Jerome nodded slowly.

Jerome: I’m okay, Trixie. Thank you.

Patricia: I’ll cook for this time, you don’t seem very well, Jerry.

Alfie: I’ll go help.

Both left the room, leaving Jerome some time alone to think. He rubbed his nose.

Jerome: Another day.

He stood up and finished putting on his uniform, to then leave the room. He walked into the kitchen, where Patricia and Alfie had done some sandwiches and had set up the table. Mara, along with Willow and Amber, entered the room. They sat down, with long faces.

Amber: I refuse to clean the house today.

Mara: It’s our duty. Who else is going to do it if we don’t, Amber?

Alfie: Amber, there’s no other option at all.

Amber sighed, looking at the window. She hated doing cleaning duty, but she hated even more having to do it every week when she didn’t have to before. It was her weakest point.

Amber: My hands look like a 40-year-old working woman. I’m just 17.

Willow: We’ll die, if we keep living like this.

Patricia: We must try not to die, Willow. Besides, you should be all happiness and love. We need that. If we keep together, we’ll be okay.

Jerome: Define ‘okay’, Patricia. Because until this day there hasn’t been a single day we don’t discuss about this.

Mara: What else did you expect, Jerome? I don’t think anyone has been able to forget what happened and still is going on.

Jerome looked at Mara, furious. She was right. Since The Secret Society had left the school, and the houses, everything was submerged into horror and darkness, a bit exaggerated, but they were desperate. With them, Trudy had left, under a potion effect Victor made her drink. They had been left to rotten. As consequence, they were in charge of keeping the house, which was their home, stable.

Amber: How’s Joy doing?

Everyone looked at Jerome, hoping for a better answer than yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that one.

Jerome: She remembered something else, and at the same time, has forgotten more.

Mara: Should we be afraid?

Alfie: By what Rufus said, we should. When she remembers everything, she’ll die of shockness.

Willow: Isn’t there any hope she survives?

Patricia: It was a strong ritual. And the only ones able to reverse it are still missing.

They started taking their breakfasts, and eating before going to school. Amber looked at Jerome with red eyes.
