Patricia: Joy, what are you doing here?

Amber and Alfie looked at Patricia and Jerome with a ‘we need to tell you something’ look. Jerome sighed.

Joy: Jerome, can I talk to you? In private?

Jerome looked at Alfie and Amber, who ran out of the scene in a matter of seconds. Patricia gave Jerome a soft palm and left with them.

Jerome: What is it, Joy?

Joy: I want you to be completely honest with me.

Jerome looked to the floor, then back to Joy.

Jerome: I promise.

Joy: What is it that I really have?

Jerome knew he couldn’t tell her that. It would make her suffer, remembering everything, she’d die faster, and the powerful trio wouldn’t have time to make a potion to reverse it. He had talked with everyone at Anubis house about it, and everyone agreed it would be better to hide it at least until the powerful trio were in touch with them. Yet, he couldn’t keep lying to her.

Jerome: Joy, I need you to be very strong. What you’re about to hear, is… highly… painful.

Mara: It does is a beautiful day.

Mara and Willow were spending the afternoon in the school gardens, preparing the school play. After an exhaustive talk with Mr. Friedman, Mrs. Carter and the girls were able to convince him it’d be an excellent idea to “enforce the knowledge of the students on matters of literature”. After the genius line Mara said and Mrs. Carter’s nod, he agreed.

Willow: So, what story will be the one presented? I was thinking Pegasus would be-

Mara: Willow, they don’t exist. We need a really intriguing and mysterious story that leaves the audience breathless.

Mara was smiling, trying to imagine the perfect story that would represent her idea perfectly. Perfection was, after all, Mara’s ideal.

Willow: I heard some years ago there was one student that wrote an amazing play, and-

Mara: You don’t mean the play Nina wrote, do you?

Willow: Well, I heard she-

Mara: She used the play to confront the adults on what she knew they were doing at the time. They told me some time ago, themselves. We can’t…

Mara stopped for a minute and thought about it. She smiled again, looking at Willow. Willow’s eyes were wide open.

Willow: No, Mara-

Mara: Think about it, Jerome and Patricia said they believed Mr. Friedman was working for the Secret Society. Who knows what other teachers are involved as well. That’ll teach them.

Mara stood up, picking all of her things and ready to leave.

Willow: Mara, Jerome will never agree to such idea.

After getting Mr. Friedman’s permission to do the school play, and everyone’s congratulations, she felt she could persuade everyone to do what she thought was the best. Even someone like Jerome.

Mara: Well, I can still try persuading him.

Mara started walking in direction to the Anubis house, as Willow yelled at her to wait for her.

Joy: Why didn’t you tell me?

Jerome: We didn’t want you to worry, or feel scared. We wanted you to get better.
