Nina: Eddie… how did we get our powers?

Eddie was looking for some jars they’d use to store food. Their plan consisted of camping, better said, spy on the areas near to where the Secret Society lived in. They’d try to place a spell on them so they aren’t visible at least for some hours. Then, knowing their enemies as well as they knew the areas, they’d return for the Mask. “Brilliant!”, Eddie thought when Fabian explained it to them.

Eddie: Why are you asking that?

Nina: I just don’t even remember how they got to us.

Eddie: Maybe we were born with them and they’d come out when reaching a certain age.

Nina: It probably makes sense.

Eddie smiled, while placing the food now packed into their bags. He noticed Nina’s uncertain look.

Eddie: What, Nina?

Nina: When did we turn 18?

Eddie: Well, you turned 18 on Ju-

Nina: That’s not what I meant.

Eddie understood she was talking about the kidnap.

Eddie: It was before the kidnap.

Nina walked through the room, frowning. Fabian walked in holding some books.

Fabian: I think I figured out where we’re staying.

Nina: Safe enough?

Fabian: Of course, I wouldn’t risk us into something not being sure.

Eddie: That’s my boy.

Eddie grabbed one of his books and looked at the first few pages.

Eddie: So, done with the research?

Fabian: I’m now focusing on other topics that are as important as the reverse potion.

Nina: So, the tears of gold really are the last ingredient.

Eddie: I thought our only job was to save Joy and protect the others.

Fabian: As well as stopping the Secret Society for anything that they’re planning.

Nina: Immortality.

Fabian: That’s why I’m looking up at that, some things doesn’t make sense.

Eddie: What do you mean?

Fabian: I’m not that sure that’s all they’re looking for.

Nina frowned again.

Nina: Then what?

Fabian: That’s what I intend to find out.

Joy: Good luck at school today.

Jerome was adjusting his tie. He looked at Joy on the mirror in front of him. She looked paler, but her natural sweetness was intact, it had been that way all along and Jerome couldn’t feel more in love with her. It hurt him the most that she was forgetting everything, everything they had together. He hoped, truly hoped the powerful trio reversed the ritual placed on her and she could be the Joy he once met again.

Jerome: Thank you.

Joy ran to him, ending in a hug. Joy looked at him and whispered, as everyone walked through and into the kitchen.

Joy: I might not remember much about us, but I do know I trust you with my life and that you’re a very special person to me.

Jerome smiled. He hugged her again, and then left the room to eat breakfast and go to school with the others. He had felt depressed, downhearted the past few months. They had become a nightmare, an endless nightmare he had to deal with. Until that day, he didn’t think it was possible to feel as if that nightmare that kept him awake at night was slowly fading away. He was happy.
