It had been a few weeks since Scott and I got back together and things were starting to get back to normal, which I was thankful for.

We were laying together on his couch after he got Austin into bed. Austin had gotten into the habit of asking me to read him a bedtime story whenever I was over for bedtime, which always made my night.

Scott kissed my head and mumbled, "He loves you, you know," into my hair as we got settled on the couch.

I smiled, leaning further into him, resting my head on his chest. "I'm so glad he does. I love him back, you know."

"I think he can sense that you're going to be around for a while."

I wasn't exactly sure how to answer that. What was he thinking about the future?

Thankfully, he said, "Oh! I was going to ask you. My boss is having a fancy party this weekend, will you go with me?"

"Like our first date?"

"That wasn't technically our first date, remember? It was like, our first outing." He laughed.

"Same difference," I joked. "But, yes, of course I'll go."

"Thanks, beautiful," he said, kissing me on the lips this time.

That weekend, Scott was guiding me around a hotel ballroom, his hand on my hip, introducing me to his coworkers.

"Scarlett, you remember Kevin, right?"

"Of course! It's great to see you again. Is Avi here, too?"

"Yeah, he's around here somewhere," Kevin smiled. "How has everything been? Scott talks about you constantly."

"Oh, really?" I grinned, leaning into Scott a little. "Everything's been great, actually. And you?"

"It's been good!"

A slow song came on then and Scott looked down at me, smiling warmly. "Will you dance with me?"

"Of course," I grinned.

We said bye to Kevin and walked to the middle of the dance floor where couples were already swaying and swirling around the room.

Scott wrapped his arm around my waist and held me close. I laid my head on his chest and let him lead me around the floor.

"Remember the first time we danced?" he said quietly in my ear.

I laughed lightly. "How could I not? I was panicking and somehow comfortable at the same time. You had quite the effect on me."

"You were panicking?" he sounded amused.

"Yes! I had such a crush on you for so long and then you were holding me and calling me beautiful...you almost killed me that night," I said, smiling up at him.

He laughed. "Well, I'm glad I didn't." He leaned down and kissed the top of my head, gently.

We danced in silence for the rest of the song, and when it was over, we went to find a seat for dinner. Kevin and Avi sat by us, and we were all talking and laughing together.

"I still can't believe that people choose to teach crazy teenagers about books. Good for you," Avi said with a hint of admiration in his voice.

"It's really not that bad. I love it. Most days." I smiled.

"What's your favorite book, then?" Kevin asked.

Scott leaned in. "I actually don't know this."

"That's because I don't have one. I've never been able to pick one favorite, but one of my favorites is definitely Pride and Prejudice. I've read it at least six times and it always makes me so happy." I grinned, thinking about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett falling in love.

They all nodded, and Kevin said, "Yeah, can't relate."

We laughed and changed the subject to something more all inclusive.

Hours passed, and soon there was hardly anyone left in the huge ballroom. After Kevin and Avi said goodnight, I turned to Scott to see him gazing at me, his head propped up on his hand with a fond smile on his face.

"What?" I asked, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks.

"I just...really love you," he said softly, his smile growing.

I blush harder.

"And I love that I can still make you blush, even after all these months," he grins.

I laugh. "I'm sure you'll literally always be able to make me blush."

"Good," he said, reaching across the table and taking my hand, squeezing it gently.

Later, we arrive back at Scott's house. After he pays the babysitter, we collapse on the couch, exhausted.

"Can I stay here tonight? I'm too sleepy to drive," I mumble into his chest.

"Mmm. Definitely," he said, kissing the top of my head.

We laid there, wrapped up in each other for a few more minutes before he said, "Dance with me."

"What?" I asked.

"Dance with me, Scar."

"I already danced with you. And there's no music."

"Doesn't matter," he said, moving to stand up and taking my hand, gently tugging me up to stand with him.

He wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, pulling me close to him. I sighed in defeat, wrapping my arms around his neck, stepping even closer to him. He started to sway back and forth, our faces touching cheek to cheek. He started humming a song I didn't recognize.

Suddenly, he stepped back, lifting his arm up to spin me. I giggled as he pulled me back to his chest, cradling me in his arms.

I couldn't help the thoughts rapidly flowing through my head. I had such a crush on him for so long, and when we finally met as adults, he actually liked me enough for us to start dating. I screwed everything up, and by some twist of fate, he still wanted me, even after everything. He still loves me. And God, I am so in love with him. I had really never felt happier.
