Shane and I were walking through the Christmas displays at the mall, shopping for presents. It felt great hanging out with him again, even if I was watching my paycheck go out the window.

"Who do you have left to shop for?" He asked.

I sighed, "Just Scott, I think."

I glanced sideways at him, half expecting him to tense up or make a face, but he didn't. He said, "Well, what does he like?"

I thought for a second and came up with nothing. "I don't know. I'm the worst girlfriend ever."

He shot me an apologetic smile. "No you're not, you'll think of something. You still have some time left, anyway."

"Not much time."

"A week is plenty of time."

"Oh, I've been meaning to ask you," I started the conversation that I had been dreading all day, "You know the party Dawn and I are having?"

"Yep."

"Um.. Would you be okay with Scott coming? If you don't want him there I totally understand and I don't want it to be weird for either of us-"

"Scarlett," he cut me off. "You don't have to ask me permission to invite your boyfriend to your party, okay? I'm over it."

I let out a sigh of relief, "You're right. Thanks."

"Its on the 27th right?"

"Yep."

"Can't wait," he smiled.

A little while later I was at Scott's house, decorating ginger bread cookies with him and Austin.

I was giving mine a face when Austin burst out into a fit of laughter.

"What happened?" I looked over the counter at him.

He held up his gingerbread man and its severed leg, still laughing.

"Well, I guess you have to eat it now!" I told him.

Austin looked at his dad for permission. Scott said, "Yeah, go ahead."

Austin beamed and shoved the cookie in his mouth.

"Now he's going to start breaking them on purpose, just watch," Scott muttered in my ear.

I giggled and sure enough, not five minutes later Austin 'accidentally' broke the arm off of one.

"Well now you have to share it with me and your dad," I joked.

He frowned but gave us each part of the cookie. I laughed and ate it, turning to finish frosting mine.

Soon they were all decorated and Austin was playing with legos while Scott and I cleaned up.

"So," I tried to sound nonchalant, "what do you want for Christmas?"

"Nothing," he said sliding past me to grab another pan and start scrubbing it.

"Shut up, you want something," I countered, drying off one of the pans we already washed.

"Nope. I don't want anything. You shall be my present," he said dramatically before pecking me on the lips.

"You already have me," I laughed.

"That's why I don't want anything."

Damn, he's smooth.

By now, we put everything away and Scott's hands were dry so he wrapped his arms around my waist as I leaned against the countertop.

"Seriously," I said, "If you could have anything for Christmas what would it be?"

He pondered for a second, then smiled. He leaned in and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, forgetting about my unanswered question. After a moment he pulled away slightly and moved his mouth to my ear. "Seriously. I already have it."

I blushed and he pulled back so he was looking at me. "Now the real question is, what do you want for Christmas?"

"Nothing," I said mimicking him. But it was true. I honestly couldn't think of anything else that I wanted. I was perfectly content.

He rolled his eyes, but didn't push it further like I had. He's more of an adult, really.

"What are you doing on the 27th?" I asked.

"Nothing. Why?"

"Dawn and I are having a party."

"A grown up party?" He joked.

I laughed. "Yes."

"I'm pretty sure I can get a babysitter."

"Great!"

"My turn."

"What?"

"What are you doing on Christmas Eve?" He asked.

"Nothing."

"Want to come over? My family won't shut up about you," he grinned.

"Really?!" I felt a rush of happiness that I wasn't expecting.

"Yes! Ever since Austin's party they've been saying how much they loved you and asking when they could see you again."

"That's awesome!! I'll definitely come."

Then I had a frightening idea. "What are you doing for Christmas day?"

"Christmas Eve is kind of our big family tradition and Christmas day is usually just Austin and me. Its kind of backwards."

"Well, would you want to come meet my family? Its kind of a big deal so if you don't want to I under-"

"Yes."

"You'll come?"

"Yes," he kissed me.

Suddenly, I had an idea. I write example essays all the time. Why not put that to good use?

A/N: I know that Christmas is over but I'm still in the holiday spirit so here we are. Thank you all so much for the votes and comments! They make me laugh so thank you :)
