No matter how soft and comfortable the bed in Kakashi's guest room was, I could not get myself to fall asleep on it. I sat up and dangled my feet over the edge of the bed, running a hand through my brown locks. I believe that years and years of sleeping outside may be the cause of this. With a frustrated sigh I stood up from the bed and quietly slipped through the window and to the roof. I shivered as the cold night wind caressed my barely dressed self, playfully blowing against my boxers. I laid down on my back and wrapped my arms behind my head, staring up at the star-littered sky above me. This is what I know. This was freedom, my freedom. I felt my eyes droop as I got comfortable in the cold, goosebumps forming on my exposed skin as I drifted off.
''Kai.''
''Kai?
''Kaiame!''
Someone spoke my name loudly and started to grab and shake my shoulder. My piercing green eyes flew open the moment I was touched, and without looking who it was I used my elemental powers to have the wind throw the person to the roof. I snarled and exposed my teeth in a feral, animalistic way as I shot up and took a defensive crouching position. False alarm. There, violently thrown down on the roof, lay Kakashi's shocked form. I ran a hand through my hair and relaxed my stance, taking a deep breathe. ''Do not touch me, Hatake.'' I sneered, my emotionless mask placing itself back on my face. Kakashi stood up and re-adjusted his Jounin-vest, staring at me for the longest of time. ''Since when is touch a probl--'' He started, but cut himself off as his onyx eyes lowered from my face, to my boxers. Bewildered, I glanced down to see what caught his interest, and immidiately my entire face turned red. Of course this has to happen right now, with him near me. I had an unsettling case of 'morning wood' which was easy to spot in this thin boxershort. Instead of dwelling on the embarassment of it all, I launched myself from the roof and through the window. Within the blink of an eye, I had pulled my tattered, torn and filth-covered pants back on. I tightened the belt and felt if all my scrolls and pouch still hung from it. Satisfied with the safety of my items, I turned to the window where Kakashi sweeped through. ''I will be out today. Do not bother following me. We both know you would fail.'' I immidiately spoke up, deciding that I was not going to spend the day inside after what had just happened. I had to leave for a bit and so, before Kakashi could so much as make a noise, I shunshinned to the roof and sped off.
Pathetic. I thought in disgust as I watched a flock of fangirls trail after the Uchiha. Did they not realise that a Kunoichi does not benefit from these useless feelings in the ninja world? I scoffed and pushed myself off the wall that I had been leaning against, stuffing my hands in my pockets as I turned around. It was a nice day, despite it being a little cold, and I found myself wandering towards the forest. My home. I may have taken a temporary residence in the village, but I felt most at ease here. In the Wild. Free. A small smile danced upon my lips as I chakra-walked up a tree and settled down on its thickest branch. I had missed the comforting embrace of Mother Nature, and I tenderly brushes my fingertips over the tree's bark. The scent of flowers, grass and anything else you'd expect to smell in a forest, penetrated my nose and added to my comfortable state. I could relax here, on this branch, and sit here until the day I die and not regret one minute of it. Nature and I had a silent yet mutual understanding. It did not take long for me to pick up on other chakra signatures, unknown ones. I arched one of my dark eyebrows and lazily probbed myself up on an elbow, staring down below me. A hushed conversation was held between three ninja, all clad in black. It was easy to see that they were assassins, and I was curious as to whom they were to target. Flicking my wrist, my elemental powers carried the wind in my direction, and along with it the whispers of their conversation.
''The Copy Cat Ninja has taunted our Master's plan long enough. Let's finish him once and for all.''
''Do you reckon our Master will made us equal companions for this?''
''Idiot! Let's focuss on the kill first.''
Master? Copy Cat Ninja? They were here to assassinate Kakashi. I felt a sudden wave of anger bubbling inside of me, and I no idea where it came from. But whatever it was, it fuelled me to jump down from the tree, right in the middle of their little group. ''I am afraid I cannot let that happen. Leave or die.'' I spoke up icily, twirling a Kunai between my fingers. ''As if, kid. You choose the wrong adults to mess with!'' The biggest of the three, and most likely the leader of the little group, spat at me. On que with his words, him and his 'colleagues' jumped at me. I made the necessary handsigns and right as they made a heap of human bodies on top of me, a substitution had taken my place. I appeared behind them and wasted no time; Two knives made of fire forming in my hands. I curled my toes into the mud before darting off around the heap in a soundless and delicate dance, my eyes closed as my blades cut through flesh, muscle and bone, leaving nothing but a puddle of blood and body parts by the time I came back to my senses. ''Perhaps you choose the wrong village.'' I commented dryly under my breathe. The flaming blades dissipated into thin air as I eyed my beautiful work of art. Of course, the Hokage would have to be notified of this and thus, albeit reluctantly; I stood in the middle of the horrific gore scene and shunshinned bodies, blood, limbs and myself smack in the middle of the Hokage's office. Surprise, old man.
