Meanwhile there was a young child in Ebbot orphanage (about seven or eight,) who was always lonely. This child was called Cristopher. He had short, dark hair, and blue eyes. He always tried to make friends, but they didn't seem to care for him. They made fun of his beliefs in monsters as the monsters haven't made the surface their home yet and nobody believed in them anymore. He was always determined to make the other children believe his conspiracy theories, but they never did.
One night when Cristopher was going to bed, he heard a whisper. "W-what? Who's there?" He stammered. But when he looked around, all he saw were other sleeping children. He sat confusedly thinking that I was probably just the wind...He just remembered that he closed the windows before going to bed. The whisper came back again except slightly louder and more understandable. "Your determination let me here child..." Said the voice. Cristopher turned to the sound of the voice and saw a young woman. But she wasn't like any ordinary woman, she was translucent and glowing red. She looked like a sort of spirit? Ghost? Monster?
" I'm sorry but exactly WHO are you? Or maybe a better question, WHAT are you?" Asked Cristopher. The woman sighed. "My name isn't important right now, but if you wish to call me something, call me, 'The wandering soul.' As for what I am, I am the leftover determination from my body. I had an ability called RESET which allowed me to turn back time. Once I rid myself of that power, I died which resulted to well, this." She said pointing to her body. "I suspect that that power has been passed on to you which lead me here." Cristopher looked down at his hands, wondering how he could be capable of such a thing.
"Now that you have this power, I am here to watch over you." Cristopher thought for a moment and said, "Like a guardian angel?" The wandering soul shrugged, "I guess, in a way." He thought a little more before he asked, "Do you know if monsters exist? Are they good? How many are there?" the wandering soul smiled sadly. "They do in fact exist. They are very nice and have amazing personalities. There are a lot of them too. In fact... I even fell in love with one." Cristopher's eyes widened at the fact that he was just proven correct. "Can I see him? Along with the other monsters?" The wandering soul nodded. "That was the plan before I died. I didn't even think that I would come back in a different form to meet you. Now follow me."
"Right now?!" Said Cristopher. The wandering soul nodded. Cristopher opened the window and followed The wandering soul. The crept outside in the night and looked around. They walked to Ebbot forest and found a skeleton skulking around.
(See what I did there? Sorry. On with the story!)
"Is that him?" Asked Cristopher. The wandering soul nodded.

Sans walked out of the mountain and into the forest. As determined as he was to find this kid, he was also tired and lazy. If he wanted to find the kid it would be a good idea to get the energy to do so first so he sat by a tree and took a nap. When night fell, Sans woke up and heard footsteps. He peeked out of the forest and saw a child wandering around. "what's a kid doing wandering around by himself?" He thought. He decided to mess with the kid. He teleported behind him and grinned.
"Where'd he go?!" Said Cristopher. Then he heard a deep voice. "hey kid. don't cha know how to greet a new pal? turn around and shake my hand." Cristopher shook as he slowly turned around to shake this persons hand. The moment he grabbed this person's hand he heard a long fart sound.
PFFFFTTTHHHHT
Cristopher looked up at this mysterious person. It was a skeleton. "hahaha. the ol' whoopee cushion in the hand trick. it's always funny. i'm sans. sans the skeleton. i was told to find a certain kid. a friend gave me the request to do so." Cristopher nodded excitedly, "Yeah! This lady who calls herself, 'The wandering soul' came and told me to meet you. She's right here next to me!" Sans looked at him confusedly, "uhhh... right where?" The wandering soul sighed, "He can't see or hear me." Cristopher looked to the confused Sans and quickly said, "Never mind it was just my imagination."
Sans shrugged, "sure, kid. anyway, do ya wanna get somethin' to eat? there's a bit of things i want to do to make sure you're the kid. i also kinda wanna ask for a favor. c'mon, i know a short cut." Sans grabbed Cristopher's wrist and an a flash, they appeared at Grillby's. While Cristopher tried to figure out how this was even possible. "see? short cut!" Sans chucked.
They both walked towards the stools and took their seats. "so kid, whadaya want? burger or fries?" Christopher patted his stomach hungrily. He couldn't remember the last time he had a meal like that. Back at the orphanage, the food there wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't a burger so that's what he chose. Sans nodded. "hey grillby! gimme a double order of burg." Grillby nodded and went into the kitchen.
"so," said Sans. "do you know what RESET is?" Cristopher nodded. "do you know how to do it? and have you done it before?" Cristopher shook his head. "what color is your soul?" Cristopher was left bewildered. "Soul?" He asked. "so you've never seen it before. that's fine. let me show you." Sans snapped his fingers and a bright red heart appeared. Sans examined it. "yup. you're the one alright. that heart there is your soul. all humans and monsters have 'em. but you're special. you have a DETERMINED soul. someone very close to me had that same kind of soul."
Cristopher glanced towards The wandering soul. "which leads to this question, do you think ya can RESET for me? i want to bring her back. she was really important to me, but she broke the reset button because she made some... mistakes."
"What kind of mistakes?"
"really bad ones. i wanted to stop her once she realized what she had done, but it was too late."
Suddenly Sans started crying. So Cristopher awkwardly patted his back.
He had just gotten into the forth stage of grief: Depression.
