After fighting Asriel and breaking the barrier, Frisk climbed out of the cave, along with many others,  to finally see the light from the surface. She beamed at all the exited faces that stared at their newfound surroundings. Well... All but one...

Sans.

He had relived this ending countless times before. It was difficult for him to even remember how he even felt when he first saw the surface before any of the resets. It almost broke him inside knowing that it could all RESET. That he might wake up in the Underground, trapped. Though he was really good at hiding things from many people, Frisk could tell something was up. She watched as Sans snuck back into the cave and followed him. She looked around for Sans. He most likely teleported seeing as he would be too lazy to walk.

She smiled slightly as she walked remembering the many kinds of things she did in the Underground as she looked around for Sans. She was still DETERMINED to find him. She walked through the King's Castle, the CORE, Hotland, and finally looked in the wishing room at Waterfall and found Sans staring at an echo flower. He wore a sad look in his face apart from his permanent grin.

"Sans!" Called Frisk. "huh? oh! sup kid? shouldn't you be on the surface with the others? they're probably losing their noodle over ya. 'specially tori and paps." Frisk shook her head and walked to the echo flower. "Sans..." She said. "What's wrong?" Sans shrugged. "nah it's nothing kiddo." He tried to hide his feelings and refused to look her in the eye as he continued to stare at the echo flower. "It's about that isn't it?" Whispered Frisk. Sans didn't say anything. He couldn't deny that he didn't know EXACTLY what Frisk was referring to. An unpleasant memory of the judgement hall rushed over him. He sighed. Frisk continued, "I'm so sorry. I know it probably isn't going to make everything better or erase the fact that I hurt you so badly, but I will do my best to atone for what I did." She took out a knife which caught Sans off guard and he grabbed her arm. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Shouted Sans. "Trust me. I know I don't deserve it but I promise I will never hurt you or anyone again." Said Frisk.

Sans sighed and let go. He watched as Frisk made the RESET button appear in front of her. She slammed the knife into the button with full force and shattered it. He stared at her with complete shock. "why did you do that?" He asked. "I don't deserve second chances. And to force you to relive the same things over and over is unforgivable. Soon this power will be passed on a new determined soul."  Said Frisk. Suddenly she felt an unbearable pain in her soul and dropped to the ground screaming. Sans immediately knelt down next to her. He checked her soul. Her HP was going down. Fast. He pulled a hotdog from his pocket and held it to her. "eat this." But she shook her head. "please." Said Sans. "ya know tori's gonna kill me for this." Frisk sighed. "it wouldn't work anyway. It's probably taking the combined damage from each reset and damaging my soul with it. I won't survive. Now that I broke the RESET button you all can have your happy ending." Sans' eye sockets filled with tears. "k-kid i...frisk." Frisk rested her hand on Sans' cheekbone. "Sans, could you please do something for me?" Sans nodded. "I want you to find the new determined soul and help them. The last thing I want is for them to end up like me... As for the others, tell them the truth. They probably would ask what happened to me after I've gone. I know that deep inside you really want to tell them. They deserve to know. I don't want you to have to think of this as a promise, but a final request from me." She gave him a weak smile. "i promise." Sans replied. She went down to 5 HP left.

As tears started flowing from her eyes she said, "I know I don't deserve it and it's probably too late to say it but I..."

4 HP...

"I..."

3 HP...

"Love you..."

2 HP...

Sans hugged Frisk and his smile became much more genuine as he whispered back, " i love ya too kid..."

1 HP...

Frisk smiled as her soul shattered. "Haha...I'm glad..." Then she closed her eyes and her body grew limp. Sans knew that Frisk was gone and wasn't coming back. He stood up and carried Frisk back, not bothering to even teleport. He filled each step with a bittersweet aura. He could only imagine how the others would react. It wasn't long before he would find out.

And for a moment Sans felt a slight warmth around him that felt like it kissed him but when he looked around, nobody was there. Perhaps it was only his imagination.
