Richard sips his milktea as he periodically scans the crowd walking outside looking for a familar face to come in.

He's now inside Chowking along East Ave. just across the compound where the head office of the Public Attorney's Office can be found. He was just joking when he mentioned to Maine that he was in a cafe outside her office.

Because where she works now is a far cry from the posh business district where her father's law firm is located. It's just sinking in that this must be a such a huge adjustment on her part.

Richard inhales and released his breath slowly while he looks at the stolen photo he took during one of her visits.

The more he learns about her, the more his admiration grows. In fact, he can now safely say that she got him, hook line and sinker. Hindi joke yung pick-up line niya, tinamaan na talaga siya.

He glanced outside again. He chose a table by the window so he can watch as people go by. Hindi naman obvious na may hinihintay siya.

This is going to be a great night. He's claiming it.

She agreed to go out to dinner with him. Their first official date.

Not because they're running on a 24-hr deadline or she's sharing dinner at home when she happens to drop by where he was still recovering from his operation.

Basta date, period.

Hindi pa rin siya makapaniwala.

After a miserable week of missing her, Maine agreed to go out with him. Kay Richard na walang trabaho ngayon at uncertain ang future. Kay Richard na puwedeng magka-criminal record pag tinuloy ng kalaban niya ang kaso. Kay Richard na muntik nang maging dahilan ng pagkamatay niya.

And on his first day outside too! It's so good to finally be out and about. For the first time in several weeks, he was given the clearance by his doctor to 'go out and 'smell the roses' so to speak.

And they say 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'.

But there's one particular rose that he not only likes to smell, but to also have and to hold till death do they part.

But this rose has one of the sturdiest stems anyone could find and full of thorns. But he'll take this rose anytime, anyday.

And right in front of him now stands his rose, este the rose pala named Maine. Atty. Nicole Maine Capili.

His gaze was automatically drawn to her eyes then to her lips. In the flesh. Okay let's not go there Richard. Too much idle time on your hands, bro.
