Aubrie's POV

I glance up and notice the broken rope from the well that the bastard pushed me into. I cautiously looked up to see if he was still there, but I did not see anyone. I stood from the small water stream and looked around to see if there was any way out of this place. Apparently, I was talking to myself about how to get out when I heard a man's voice from above the well.

I panicked and moved out of sight of the man. Once more, the man hollered to see if anyone was in there. It did not sound like Daniel, so I responded,

"Yes, I am here, sir. I... I seem to have fallen from the well..."

I could hear a worried tone in his voice and he then shouted, "I need to get you out of there, there are trolls that live in those places!"

I stood there frozen in fear. I only heard about trolls in fairytales! Are there truly some trolls living here? I saw the rope before me beginning to shake around and realized that he was coming down for me. I hid behind a pillar closest to me and waited for him to come down. He came quickly and landed on the small water stream. I peeked around the pillar to see his face, and I could not help but feel my mouth drop when I saw him. A good-looking guy in a suit came down a well to rescue me? The clothes were impressive; I had never seen anything like it before. Suddenly, the man cut off my thoughts and hollered,

"Where did you go? This isn't time for games if you are around here, you motherfucking trolls..."

I slowly came out from behind the pillar, fearing him, and his brown eyes locked on mine. "What the hell are you doing hiding behind there? We need to get fucking out of here!" He said, looking at me frustrated. Before I could speak, he pulled me into him and had me hold him tightly around his neck, close to his chest. He then begins to pull onto the rope and pulls us up and back into the well that haunted me. I closed my eyes in fear as I felt him breathe heavily upon my face as he struggled to climb. We finally reach the top, and he swings the both of us to the edge of the well. The moment his feet went over the edge and touched the ground, I let go of him and fell to the ground, beginning to sob uncontrollably, fearing what he could do with me.

He was breathing heavily and glanced at me. "Why the fuck are you moving away from me? After I fucking rescued you out of that well!"

"Just let me go! Spare me my life, please!" I beg, backing up from him.

He looked at me, stunned, and walked toward me. "What the hell are you talking about? I am not going to hurt you. I just fucking rescued you out of the tunnel of trolls! Why the fuck would I do that if I wanted you dead?"

I froze in place, hiding my face from him as I continued to cry as he approached me more. He scoffs and scratches his head, panting heavily, then sits down beside the well, waiting for me to calm down. I kept glancing at him, waiting for him to strike me with a knife or some weapon, but nothing happened other than him grabbing a handkerchief out of his pocket to wipe his forehead. He just sat and waited for me while studying me. "Jeez, whoever did this to you will surely pay. I can tell you that..." He says as he looks up at the sky.

I wiped my eyes and looked at him through my messy hair. "What do you mean by 'surely pay?' "

"What I mean. I seriously will kill the bastard that did this to you." He says angrily, then glances back at me. "Do you remember who did this to you?"

"His name is Daniel... But I don't think you know him..."

"Try me. I will hunt this bastard down!"

I paused, then I sat up, moving my hair from my face, still looking down in shame. "His name is Daniel Simpson. He is a part of the assassination tribe of the pirate trade in France in 1920."
