Brie's POV
It was finally time. All the girls then made their way down the hall in the order that we practiced with last night. I helped Janja with her long train and carried it while holding my floral gold and white bouquet. Janja was the one to seem to glide gracefully through the halls. As we approached the stairs, she started walking down slowly. We helped to make sure the train was nice, even as she walked down easily. The whole view itself was breathtaking.
She stops at the bottom of the steps so I can come down and walk in front of her. I cautiously walked to the edge of the stairs and slowly climbed down. I finally reached the bottom and stood beside her. "You ready for the getaway car?" I ask jokingly. She was taken aback and laughed loudly, adjusting her large cascade bouquet in front of her. "Thank you, but not today." She says happily. I give a nod and then walk towards Froot to stand behind her.
From a glance, the room was full of people. My mouth almost dropped in shock at all of these people. Suddenly, the music came on, and one by one, the girls walked in unison down the aisle and stood where they were supposed to be. As I walked down the aisle, I knew to smile simply, but I couldn't help but look for Ryan at the altar. I finally met eyes with him and smiled brightly. He smiled back, and it seemed like we were back at the play when we had our first moment. The moment when time stood still. How I wish to be in his arms now, like earlier.
I reach the altar and look down to pick up my dress and step up the small step. I then stand beside the beautiful backdrop and then turn around to look at the crowd. I caught Carmine's glance at me and smiled towards him, trying to be polite. I then saw all the other family members with whom I had grown acquainted. It truly is a wonderful time to be together with one another.
The music changed, and everyone knew when to stand up. I glance over to Jake because I am a sucker for watching the groom get a little emotional at the first look of the bride. But for Jake, he stood like a statue. The moment Janja came in, his mood changed some, and he seemed impressed by how Janja looked. He gave off a big smile, and I glanced at her doing the same. They seemed to be happy, and I was happy that everything worked out at that moment.
She reached the altar, and then the ceremony began. The officiant was the Godfather, Pop Sicilian, the oldest family member of the Sicilian family. He was fairly older, but he did enjoy doing wedding ceremonies. There were testimonies of their adventures, their quirks, and some laughs. They said their "I Do's" and the ring exchanged. Next came the big one. The Godfather then announced the blessings and then pronounced them husband and wife. Jake takes Janja into her arms and dips her with a long, french kiss. Everyone in the room cheers, and we all then proceed to leave the hall.
A couple of hours pass, and we the bridal party comes back inside from being out in the sun too long to do wedding photos. It was a lot of great fun getting group photos. I'm more anxious to see the photos with Ryan and me in them.
We all sit down and have a glass of water. Soon, the waiter comes around, passing off champagne to everyone, as the DJ changes the song from light and Jazz to loud and energetic music. The DJ turns up the volume and shouts, "Ladies and Gentlemen, for the first time. Mr. and Mrs. Sicilian!" Everyone stands up to cheer and applaud for the happy couple. The happy couple walk in, doing a fun small dance. The cake was towards the middle of the dance floor, and they both had their first bite and drank as husband and wife. Soon, they went ahead and started their first dance of the night.
I watched from the table, continued to eat my food, and glanced at Ryan often. I could see him glance to be often as well, and it made me long for him more. Soon, the first dance finishes, and Carmine approaches our table and asks for the first dance. Ryan questionably notices, slightly a little agitated, and watches us have a dance.
