~Epilogue~
I hold my 5 year old daughter, Amiya's hand and carry two fishing poles as we walk the river. I tell her about the fishing hole I found as a child. She listens intently smiling up at me with excitement written all over her face. Ajax is back home with Paxton our 11 month old, who is currently keeping us up all night teething. I desperately need this break, and its always nice to get to spend time with Amiya without the boys. As we turn the bend I see Dan standing with his son Connor on the bank, in my fishing spot. "I see you've taken my hole again. Conner, did your dad tell you he stole this from your aunt and has since been pawning it off as his own?"
He giggles. "He said you stole it from him."
Amiya runs to her younger cousin Conner, being only six months apart she still likes to rub it in that shes older.
"Whats Kira up to?"
"Resting, She's having trouble sleeping at night. The baby gets restless and kicks constantly." He replies. Kira and Dan married four months after we tied the knot. They had a lovely wedding planned by Ma and Mrs. West. Our news of Amiya's arrival subdued their equal discontent over not having our own wedding. I've never seen a more involved grandmother than Mrs. West. She is a great mother and if possible even better Grandma.
I look down at the tackle box. "I'm so glad youre here." I tell him, honestly.
He smirks. "Yeah, yeah. I'll bate the hook. Amiya, tell me you wont be a sissy like your Ma and refuse to put the worm on the hook."
Amiya's face scrunches up. "Yuck, no way. Thats daddy's job."
Dan shakes his head at me. "Look what you gone and did. The world didn't need two of you."
I laugh and punch his arm. I watch Conner reel in a small fish and carefully pry the hook from the fishes mouth. He tosses the it back into the water and grabs another worm. I elbow Dan, "Looks to me you've done the exact same thing."
I take a deep breath and look out the water, feeling happy and content. "God, I love Montana."THE END
