Chapter 9
A World at War
The select army of twenty assembled at the East wall. They waited for the relief Sumner to start the chant that would bring up the replacement wall, when Jubar taped them in after the army was clear of the wall.
The march towards the portal had begun; the army crossed Zorauth Bridge, named after the creator of the portals.
"Ironic." Sauth said.
"What is?" Jubar asked.
"We are crossing the bridge named after the man, who brought us to our very demise."
"It is his will Sauth, you know that. The creator will provide."
"His will is destroying mine!" Sauth said in anger.
"Maybe this all started so you can take your true soul mate Kareenauth."
"What do you mean?" Sauth asked.
"Maybe' You are meant to be with her and this is the only way the creator can give you that. The only way High Elder Bellar and the others can be reached. And this journey, quest if you will. Is, going to bring you two together in the end."
Sauth looked at Jubar and replied with his life glow shining a bit brighter." I never saw it that way Jubar. Thank you."
Jubar bowed at his mentor and smiled, taking notice that Sauth's life glow grew much brighter.
"And it is I who is supposed to be mentoring you Jubar. My path has been rough for the longest time. Midway through your journey from a Warrior to an Arch-Warrior you have never failed. And I have failed you numerous times. Your destiny is clearer to you, than mine ever has been to me."
"Master, your path has been a hard one. I do not know how I would react...if I was on a journey like the one bestowed upon you. Who am I to question your reaction to it? You...we have an even harder path ahead and I feel you may grow darker along the way. You need to know. I will stay with you the whole Journey―for it is mine as well. It makes me stronger and more eager to help you, along the way. However I see fit to help. You have reached enlightenment time and time again."
"Jubar, you are a true master. Your summoning's will come much easier now, as we continue this journey. You are already spiritually an Arch-Warrior." Sauth said sincerely and continued. "I just hope I am not holding you back from your full potential."
"Thank you, Master...and Sir, we should not..." Jubar stopped and readjusted his statement. "I will not question it. Our placement together was not a mistake."
The group reached the end of Zorauth Canyon and approached Vintar's pass. Sauth dimmed more looking at the pass.
"Jubar I am constantly reminded of Kareenauth with every step of this quest, now looking at the pass named after her Father. We must take a moment of silence, before we cross through it." Sauth stated.
"I will have our group hold up." Jubar replied.
"Moogalyte's, Sauth would like us all to take a moment of silence before we continue this journey, here at Vintar's pass. Let us pause and take knee in remembrance of High Elder Vintar and the rest of the fallen from yesterday's attack." Jubar announced.
The group stopped and took a knee. They paused for a moment of silence, the recent deaths the City of Resarauth has took a toll on them all. The moment of silence quickly was interrupted by the high pitch squeals of Daulpers on the other side of the pass. The Moogalytes Jumped up or quickly rose to their feet. The screeching pierced their ears―the sound shook and quivered down through their spines. The group of Moogalytes quickly assembled and slowly followed behind Sauth and Jubar at high alert. They walked through the pass and there was a sea of Daulpers in the near thousands. The glow of the legion grew dim as they saw the army of Daulpers wreaking havoc on their Mother Planet. The ravaging of their animal wildlife was soul crushing.
Sauth looked up as a printel flew overhead. "Who authorized someone to go out on a printel?" He asked.
"I don't think anyone did." Jubar replied.
"He's wearing a Civilian robe! What are they thinking?" He asked in a state of confusion.
"I guess they wanted to see how bad it was, for themselves." Jubar answered.
"Who is not doing their job in that city!? Why would they...His printel cut out?" He questioned with scarcity. The group of Moogalytes watched in horror, as the printel got over the Daulpers. The rider and his printel plummeted straight down like an amusement parks freefall ride. A slight explosion came after, without even harming the Daulpers. The Daulpers swarmed the explosion like a wave crashing on shore--engulfing the civilian.
"That was no heroic act!" Sauth stated in anger.
"You don't think..."
"Indeed it was!" Sauth interrupted. "He did not lose his life-glow before that printel went down."
"Why would they do such a dark deed?" Jubar asked.
"Maybe a mate or family member was lost and they couldn't deal with the pain. Only they and the Creator know." Sauth answered with a sad soft tone.
"Would the High Elders..."
That was no courageous act of sacrifice, The High Elders would not of sent us and revert to the old ways." Sauth answered.
"There are thousands of them―I must go back to the safety of the city!" One Moogalyte exclaimed and ran back through the pass in panic.
"Would anyone else like to join him, now is the time?!" Sauth boomed with an angry passion.
"No! We are with you Champion." They chanted in unison.
