Bucky returned for the storms and left after for around four more months, until one time Bucky arrived at the bakery, and it was quite sunny outside.
"I'll stay." Bucky said, and Steve nearly dropped Bucky's order. However, he continued Bucky's order in silence. "Steve?" Bucky asked hesitantly as Steve handed him his order.
"This is a joke, right? A prank of some kind?" Steve asked quietly, glad there was no one else in the Bakery, which was rare by now.
"If that's what you want it to be..."
"No! That's not at all what I meant. I just... it's been half a year since I made the suggestion. I guess I kinda just gave up hope." Steve looked down, blushing a little.
Bucky looked up at the same time, searching Steve's face for any sights of regret or sarcasm. When he found none, he allowed himself to relax a little, letting down the first layer of his guard. "Let me just close up, then we can go home." Steve said gently, turning to start packaging he remainder of the brownies.
