lisa found herself running towards the rooftop. just twenty more minutes before the last event of the week starts.once she reached the rooftop, she realized that it was empty. no signs of jennie. just emptiness.
she sighed to herself and just took a seat on a bench, staring at the starless sky. lisa noticed that there was only one lamp post that was working and so she took note of that, planning to talk to the teachers about it next week.
"you came," she looked at where the voice was coming from and found a jennie, holding a can of soda on each of her hands.
"y-yeah, have a seat." lisa scooted over and jennie took a seat beside her, offering lisa a drink and she accepted it.
"so, why did you want me to come here?" lisa asked jennie who was quietly drinking.
"i wanted to watch the fireworks with you.. you saw the sticky note, right?"
warmth started spreading on lisa's chest as her cheeks started heating up. thank god there was only one light post there so jennie couldn't see her blushing face. lisa took a drink.
"why are you blushing?"
"pfft," lisa spat out her drink and jennie's eyes widened, patting her back.
"you alright?"
lisa's heartbeat started to quicken as she noticed how close jennie's face was to hers. she never once thought that she'd get to see jennie's beautiful face this close. lisa immediately looked away as jennie went back to her original position, chuckling lightly.
"y-yeah.. but really, why did you want me to come here?" lisa asked again, hoping jennie wouldn't change her previous answer.
"okay, okay.. i wanted to talk to you about what happened last monday."
"oh,"
jennie seemed to notice the dismay in lisa's voice and so she quickly clarified, "but i wasn't lying earlier though.. i really want to watch the fireworks with you."
they fell into another moment of silence. jennie took a glance at lisa's wristwatch.
just five more minutes.
"lisa.."
"hm?"
"do you like me?"
lisa chugged down her drink after jennie's question, making jennie smile a little.
"so you do?"
"h-how wait uhm i.." lisa stammered and jennie smiled even wider, making lisa turn towards her.
"answer me, lisa. do you like me?"
the noise of the people cheering cut lisa off and the fireworks display started. different colors illuminated the night sky and everyone was smiling.
the two watched in awe as the colors bursted into the night sky, illuminating their faces with different colors. lisa took a glance at jennie who got a little distracted, turning her lips into a sad smile.
she looked away and closed her eyes, sighing.
