taehyung had always wanted to know what it felt like to be in love. and that first happened when jung hoseok entered his life. he'd given the relationship his all, but even that was taken away from him.
and the longest crush he had right now was probably on jungkook , considering the fact that the feelings kept coming back again and again.
and again and again.
taehyung knew it was no use trying to get rid of them. he was just afraid that they'll grow.
but now, in the split second when jungkook said those words, all he could do was blush and look away, hoping and praying that his heart didn't fall harder than it already it.
"jungkook."
"i'm trying taehyung. and i mean it when i say i'll try making up for it. for lost time."
"time, you can't."
"what about us then. we just take this rivalry to the grave-"
"how about we stop referring to each other as rival or enemy? hm? start small? heard of it?"
"how about we not speak cockily to the other." jungkook scoffed.
it was going nowhere. they knew it. but oh they tried so hard to make it seem like everything within them wasn't crumbling.

jungkook didn't know what love what. frankly, he didn't care. he wasn't the kind who could stick to just one person.
that perspective kinda changed when jungkook's feelings for taehyung first entered his mind and made his realise that he liked the guy. years ago, wasn't it? you'd think jungkook could get over people in a jiffy.
but taehyung wasn't easy to get over.
with those eyes that spoke without him having to say anything, and his hair that bounced ever so slightly with his cute little walk, and his general aura that drew people in, wanting to know more even if they knew him already.
jungkook would deny it.
he'd punch taehyung to make his mind believe he hated him. to make himself believe that he would never like a guy like taehyung.
but the heart never listens does it?

the both of them were pretending.
they weren't trying to make it work.
they were trying to make it not work. because both of them were idiots who always avoided the person they got feelings for.
