it wasn't awkward. the atmosphere was just a little unsettling.
jungkook looked at taehyung and looked away when he saw that the older was already staring.
"soo." jungkook started.
'sup." taehyung replied jerking his head upwards like a fuckboy, completely killing the vibe and making jungkook burst into laughter.
"nothing much, just handcuffed to this dude who's just absolutely stupid-"
"hey!" taehyung punched him lightly on the bicep and jungkook let his eyes scan taehyung's smile.
"so, a week or 24 hours?"
"let's not get ahead of ourselves. 24 hours to begin with." taehyung's lingering smile dropped.
"what happens if we don't make it?"
"obviously, we fight. but, the cycle starts again. if we can't stay 24 hours without belting each other up, i'm sorry but it's going to be hard to be a friend."
"and what if we do make it?" jungkook had hope in those eyes but taehyung shrugged it off.
"i don't know."
"you prank the police."
"what the fu- deal." taehyung smirked after a nano second of confusion took over his face.
"how are you gonna do it?"
"so sure you aren't gonna lay a finger on me, huh?"
"trying to be a friend here." jungkook slumped against the couch and closed his eyes.

"want to talk about it?" jungkook asked after taehyung washed his face. something had triggered taehyung's memories and he couldn't handle it. his face had grown pale and he had started to grow a bit deaf.
just like he always did when he was anxious.
jungkook had called out to him but he had just rushed to the bathroom, pulling the younger boy along with him.
"later."
"okay then." jungkook said plainly, reaching for a cigarette before he remembered the last time.
"taehyung."
"hm."
"what...i mean...why are you so sensitive to smoke?"
"had pneumonia in ninth grade."
"oh."
"yeah, my left lung isn't all that great right now."
jungkook nodded in acknowledgement of what the older was saying.

"i think I'm ready to talk about it." taehyung's deep voice cut through the crisp air after what jungkook felt was about fifteen minutes.
