Nicki POV

I watched Ken do a double take at his surroundings before he pulled off. I looked back at Jeremiah and made sure he was still distracted with his tablet.

"Why you look so on edge?"I asked, clearly concerned.

"'Cause man."Was all he said back. "It ain't safe 'round here."

"What you mean it ain't safe around here?"

"Ain't that what the fuck I just said. Just be quiet right now."He shushed me and kept driving. I thought we were going back home but my thought took a detour when he kept making wild turns.

"Where are we going?"I didn't shut up. I was curious.

"Somebody following us. I can tell."He kept straight and passed the red light.

I looked into the mirror on the side of the passenger door since that's the seat I was sitting in. "Ain't nobody following us boy, that's your paranoia. Take me home, I got work in the morning."I responded. Ken got paranoid easily, he could never sit still unless he was asleep. And even then, he'd wake up in the middle of the night and check the windows in our bedroom.

"Don't make me raise my voice with you. Sit back, shut up and enjoy the ride."He mumbled, pressing down on the gas even more.

"You can't drive that fast with Miah in the car. He has school in the morning! He needs to get home. Drop us off, then you can run from whatever you running from."

"Ian runnin' from shit. I'm simply protecting my family. Nicki, don't test me at a time like this."

I rolled my eyes and sat back in my seat. He was doing one hundred miles an hour and I couldn't stand when he drove this fast. It was cool when we were younger but I'm thirty two now. My nerves are always on edge these days.

"Ken, slow down!"I screamed, making him slam on the breaks. He almost ran into a building.

"You throwing me off track. Shut the fuck up, I said."He repeated so I left it alone at that point. I prayed to God that we make it home safely tonight because with the way Ken's paranoia is set up, we were doomed.

Cardi POV

"I hear you."I looked away from him. I had my arms crossed against my chest, still annoyed with him.

"But do you understand me when I say I won't do nothing stupid to hurt you ever again? Do you understand me when I say I only want to be with you?"

"Yes."I huffed and rolled my eyes.

"I'm truly sorry Bel."

"Only Nicki can call me that. You have to find a new nickname."

"Well, shit! Aight then. I see how you coming."He laughed but I didn't find anything hilarious.

"You gonna see that damn sword through your chest next time you do something malicious."I warned.

"I got you. You gonna come home?"

"My stuff there, ain't it? Yeah, I'm coming home."

Tell the world that I'm coming home, I thought in my brain.

Oh, he wasn't going to get off so easily. Now that we sort've made up, I'm still going to give him the silent treatment just to let him know how difficult I can be. I got in my car and went back to the house we shared. "I missed you so damn bad baby girl."He hugged me.
