A/N: I now understand that "Hightop" is supposed to be "Hightopp". Sorry for the mistake throughout the first two chapters. Thanks for reading :) This story magically turned into fanfic.. Btw, I do not own the story that Glen Hightopp told Alex Hightopp. I do not own their last names, or AiW ;P Just as a warning, "Aunt Alice and Uncle Tarrant" might visit this Hightopp family :D GOODNESS, CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT! THE HIGHTOPPS LIVE IN UNDERLAND! THIS IS A EXTENDED STORY TO AiW.
At the celebration of Alex's 16th birthday
"How are you enjoying this celebration your sisters planned for you so far, Alex?" Glen Hightopp turned to his only son and asked.
"It's great! But dad, for my birthday, will you tell me the story of the Hightopps? I've always been fascinated by the story." It's true. Alex has always loved the story about their aunt and uncle, Alice and Tarrant Hightopp. A love story between the young champion and a royal hat maker.
"Well, alright. Aunt Alice and Uncle Tarrant first met at a tea party not far from here. Alice thought Tarrant was the maddest person she has ever met, and it's true! But then the Bloody Red Queen drove Alice out of Underland. This was during the time that the Bloody Red Queen still ruled the Red Kingdom...." Then, Glen told Alex the story of Alice's second and third visits. In the third one, Alice decided to stay in Underland forever with Tarrant. Then finally, Glen told Alex how Alice was named after Alice the Champion; then came Angelica and Alex, an angel and a warrior.
"If only sisters Alice and Angelica would see your kindness.." Alex softly whispered to his loving father.
"Oh, I'll be fine, little one. You need not to worry"
On the soft, comforting bed, Alex marveled at the story that his father had just told him. Before Alex had time to finish his marvelling, the doorbell rang and there stood the actual Alice and Tarrant Hightopp. Obviously, Alex didn't return to reality before Angelica went to get the door.
Alice the Champion's POV
Boy, I wonder if Glen, my brother in law, is back yet. After the death of the beloved Maria, everything changed in the Hightopp family. Glen seemed to have disappeared. I guess he inherited not only the magic from father and mother in law, but the crazy madness that ran in the Hightopp blood that my husband- God, I love to address Hatter, I mean, Tarrant, as my husband- also inherited.
I lightly squeezed Tarrant's hand, feeling nervous for the up coming scene in the Hightopps residence.
"Don't worry," Tarrant explained, "the Hightopps are always strong no matter what happens."
I hope that's really the case. The door soon opened and there was my not-so-little-anymore niece, Angelica, smiling her perfect beautiful smile.
Angelica's POV
Oh, more guests! I truly hope it's Aunt Alice and Uncle Tarrant! Alice and Alex will be so happy if they come. I thought to myself as I went to get the door.
It IS Aunt Alice and Uncle Tarrant! I greeted them with my almost model-ish smile. Daddy has always said that my smile was the best- wait! That man is no longer my "daddy". How could I have made that mistake!
Normal POV
Tarrant saw that Angelica's smile faded and asked her what was wrong. Angelica opened her mouth, as if wanting to say something, but then closed it and welcomed them in.
The three Hightopp child were thrilled to see their Aunt and Uncle, the best Champion and Hat Maker in the entire Underland. Alice and Tarrant were also very joyful to see their nieces and nephew. But Tarrant was looking for someone else. Someone he knows is in the house.
Then Tarrant spotted Glen and walked over to him.
"Where were you?" Tarrant asked his little brother with deep blue eyes, indicating the sadness in him. Tarrant and Glen were filled with mixed emotions; sadness, sorrow, anger, frustration, happiness, and regret.
"Oh, you know, here, there, and everywhere" Glen answered with the same crazy giggle that all Hightopps have and his eyes also turned from his normal emerald green to a blue bluer than anything anyone has ever seen. With a sad, lonely smile, Glen continued "You know, my daughters, they don't accept me anymore. They hate me for leaving them before they even got over the grief for their mother. I don't blame them. It's true, I did leave them with only sadness and anger. I'm just as much a coward as the Bloody Red Queen."
A/N: I don't have any idea where this is going lol. But later it will all make sense. The story of Kenny and Alice will be posted with a sad little ending to their relationship. This story is now focused on the entire Hightopp family. I absolutely love Alice and Tarrant Hightopp! As well as the Hightopp children. They're adrable! ...At least in my head they are ;)
