A/N: I feel like I'm on fire with writing today :D Hope it doesn't go away until I finish this fanfic! Ah, I'm so excited for this story. ON WITH IT ;D For POV's, Alice is the niece and Alice the Champion is, well, Alice the Champion!
Alice's POV
Not long after we sang Happy Birthday to Alex, Auntie Alice and Uncle Tarrant dragged Angelica and I into the guest room, where they would be staying for the next couple of days.
"Are you girls...okay?" Auntie Alice asked us. I knew immediately what she meant by that. But I pretended not to.
"Why in the world wouldn't we be? It's Alex's birthday and you guys are here to celebrate it with us!" My sister also definitely know what Auntie Alice meant. We have a special mind connection that no one knows about. I see that she is also trying to deny the fact that the man came back.
"I know you girls know what I mean. You're too smart not to." Uncle Tarrant said, followed by that funny crazy giggle all Hightopps have. Two sentences from Uncle Tarrant struck Angelica and I like lightning. Neither of us said anything.
Angelica's POV
Oh dang, I thought to myself, they're asking us about...that.
Honestly, I hate this topic and wanted to avoid it as much as I can. But I guess you can't always avoid it.
"I know how tough it's been for you girls since Glen left. You do every housework perfectly just so your brother wouldn't think that this house is without a care-taker. You two acted as care-takers all these five years." Aunt Alice started with a sad look on her face. "I think...Uncle Tarrant and I are going to move here with you after Glen...leaves again. If that's okay with you girls of course."
I was honestly shocked, and so was my sister. Who ever would've thought that Aunt Alice and Uncle Tarrant would move in with us? I was so relieved. Finally, I could take off this burden and let the stone on my shoulder down. For now.
"Yes, of course you guys can come live with us. It gets pretty lonely around here anyways." Alice replied with a just as shocked expression as mine.
Alice the champion's POV
"Well, then it's settled!" I squealed as i tightly squeeze Tarrant's hand, feeling his hands squeezing mine back.
After this, I went on saying "Now to talk about the real problem at hand." At once, all eyes were fixed on me. How in Underland did I think this was going to be easy? No words came out of my mouth.
"What your aunt is trying to say," Tarrant continued for me, "is that.. your father means no harm when he left. This was all for a reason." The second after he finished his sentence, Alice and Angelica's eyes turned to red, showing the hatred they have for their father. Seeing this just broke my heart. My two little nieces, hurt with no one around to comfort them.
I'll tell you girls, when you're old enough, we'll tell you everything. I'm so sorry we can't tell you now. It's against your mother's will.
Tarrant's POV
I was very surprised by how my little twin nieces didn't lose control when obviously, both their eyes were pure red. These poor girls, I can tell that they're trying to press down their anger and hatred. I felt sorry and scared for them. I've seen only once, this kind of pure red eyes, when my own father, their grandpa, looked at the Bloody Red Queen who killed my mother, the twins' grandma.
"There's no doubt that he left our brother and us alone.." Angelica said, gritting her teeth. "..And didn't come back for five long years. We had to do everything ourselves because he left for his own purpose. HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW AWKWARD IT WAS AT ALEX'S PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES BECAUSE HE NEVER WENT TO ANY OF THEM. THE FIRST ONE WAS WHEN ALICE AND I WERE ONLY TWELVE! We were only twelve.."
Alice and I never knew about parent-teacher conferences until they were fifteen. Oh God, they went to all of it...alone?
By now, Angelica had ran over to a pile of dolls and ripped them to shreds. I suppose it's a way to take your anger out. On some dolls.
But on the other hand, Alice, my other baby niece, just cried in silence.
I looked over to Alice, my dear wife, and saw that she also has a pained expression on her face. My three baby Hightopp girls. My poor girls. God, they're only seventeen years old. Yet they're so much more mature than other seventeen year olds.
Normal POV
"Stop it, Angelica, that's very rude to our aunt and uncle. They'll think we're bonkers." Alice, in her barely recognizable voice, said to Angelica.
"Let me tell you something. You are mad, completely bonkers. But then again, all the best people are. Honey, think of us as your other parents from now on 'till forever. It's okay to cry in front of your parents, is it not?" Alice said with a reassuring smile.
Then the twins, hearing the statement Alice made, curled themselves into two balls. Stifling and rocking. It was heartbreaking for anyone and everyone who saw that scene.
Then Tarrant went over to the two seventeen-year-olds and rubbed their backs and tried to calm them down. But nothing he did made them better. Until Alice the Champion came over and kissed their heads like their mother, Maria, used to do.
"Hey, do you girls know why a raven is like a writing desk?" Tarrant asked.
"We haven't the slightest idea." The twins replied.
