Summer was near with only two more days left. On Tuesday, Audrey had found out something that had made her heart crumple. Not to mention the fact that on Monday, her dad decided he wanted a divorce, and he moved out leaving her mom crushed as well. They had been married for several years with arguments far and few. It had totaled to only 6 years of marriage for her parents.
Laila had everything she could ever want. Both her parents were happy together, she lived in a very nice and cozy house, and now she even had Audrey's best friend, Stefan. Audrey felt like she couldn't even show her face at school, not going after her talk with Stefan the previous day. She had told him goodbye, meaning she didn't want to be alive anymore. There was only two reasons she was even still living, her mother and father. She didn't have any other friends, she was the outcast. And of course Stefan would've picked Laila, she was friends with everyone all because she was the most kindhearted, outgoing person in their entire school. Everyone loved her, she was the one topic everyone enjoyed talking about.
Laila was very optimistic and made friends with the most unusual or weird people. She could give love to everyone with not one hating her. Audrey, on the other hand, was always talked down to, talked bad about, or never even talked to. She always thought she just never met the invisible made-up standards most high school students had set for others. Laila made her feel like more of a person, because of that Audrey never listened to a single thing that was said about her.
Stefan was best friends with both the girls, making it a hell of a lot more difficult for Audrey to deal with. Laila was all smiles from day to night, always happy. It had been about 6 days that they were sneaking around with together, but she had no idea what she was actually doing to Audrey. Neither Laila nor Stefan had been able contact her, she hadn't touched her phone or stepped foot out of the house. In Laila's opinion, Stefan was just simply a crush and it couldn't have hurt her that bad. But Laila had never been hurt. By anyone.
That was another thing that made her life so perfect. Almost fake or like a dream. She had never let anyone hurt her. So she couldn't possibly understand the pain that shot through Audrey's heart with every. Single. Breath. And to think Laila and Stefan were probably having a great day together at school. Not a clue in the world about the type of thoughts whirling around inside Audrey's head.
While her mother was at work, she decided to finally leave her room. Her room was becoming too depressed to stay. The curtains were hanging loosely providing no sunlight, no lights on, and absolutely no positive vibes. So instead of crying about the fucked up situation, she went out to the kitchen. She wasn't going to eat her feelings away like most girls with stress, instead she wasn't going to eat at all. Until she was good enough for Stefan, she was going to become skinnier, even though she was already perfect, and she was going to die trying if he didn't do anything. Instead of looking around, she went straight to the table, sitting down, then turning her head to look out the window.
Laila laughed as Stefan told a joke. He then went serious, grabbing Laila's concern. Stefan spoke in a low, sad voice. "I don't think Audrey will ever talk to me again. Yesterday I went to her house.. And it was as if all the energy was drained from her with nothing but sadness to feel. It was horrible, baby.."
Laila frowned, not wanting to talk about her right now but to be happy with him. "It's not like she liked you that much. I'm sure she's probably talking to another guy or hanging out with her mum eating ice cream on the couch. Who knows. But for one, I know she's fine. And when she comes crawling back to us, we will still be there for her." She looked as if she didn't know what she was saying was true or not.
Stefan searched her eyes, trying to find a sign of remorse. Sadness. Hurt. Anything. But all Stefan saw was pure happiness nearly radiating off her. This tempted him so much, every time Stefan saw her beautiful blue eyes, he had to kiss her. With a slight smile on his face, he leaned toward her kissing her softly. She kissed back in reply. She blushed slightly looking him in the eye. "Did you ever kiss her, Stefan..?" Her smile faltered slightly but returned.
Stefan stopped to think. "No actually, I mean I kissed her cheek a lot to make her blush. But other than that, I did not kiss her. I'm sure you would've known if I did based on how close you two were." He frowns knowing he ruined that for the both of them.
