SAGE

"You always do this Jazz. How can you spring something like this on me right before I'm supposed to walk down the aisle."

"I'm sorry ok, I wanted you to be the first one to know. It is your wedding after all, and I only found out early this morning."

"I can't be pregnant, Jazz it's just not possible. I got my bloodwork done as a part of the semi-annual checkup all normal adults have. I just can't be."

"Well I don't think Margret is gonna change what the doctors tested just because you 'just can't be pregnant' you dummy"

I slammed my head in my hands and groaned. Of all the things that could happen to me on my wedding morning, this is one of the most unexpected, and quite frankly insane things to happen to me.

Ethan had just started walking and getting better two months ago. He's nowhere close to being able to run around and keep up with a child.

And what about if it's not just one? The prospect of having twins or triplets made my heart warm but I knew I wasn't ready for any of it.

"I'll call them back and deal with it later. Hopefully, it's a false alarm and I don't have any impending doom to deal with," I sighed and started to fix my makeup again.

"Well your boobs do look a little bigger, and-"

"Oh my God Jazzmine get out!" I shrieked and chucked my vanity pillow at her.

There's no way I was pregnant.

Right?

. . .

ETHAN

"I think you're right."

"I know I am, I'm the one with the fashion sense."

I rolled my eyes at Matthew's snide comment and went back to fixing myself in the mirror.

"I'm gonna ignore that and move onto the new cane topper I got you for today. It matches Sage's dress to a tee."

I looked at the marble knob, flaked with copper bits and I smiled to myself. The colors suited her, and I couldn't wait to see her in the dress.

"You know, the funniest thing happened at the last fitting," Matthew rambled and I tuned in my ears to listen a little.

"We got to the store, and it was really snug on her. Especially on her bust. Like honestly what have you been feeding her? That Italian side of you must feed her night and-"

"Wait did you say her bust got bigger?" Nathan chimed in.

"Yeah like everything was just slightly bigger. I have no clue what happened to her."

"Maybe she's pregnant."

The word rang in my ears for a couple seconds. the conversation faded and I was left with my own thoughts.

Pregnant? That's supposed to be a scary thing, especially now.

Then why do I feel so warm inside at the idea of having a helping hand in her firstborn child?

Why am I imagining our life together with a big house and two dogs?

I can feel the heat rising to my face and I stop my train of thought and tune back into the conversation.

"You seem to like this theory, huh Eth?" Nathan smirked and I returned to fixing myself up.

"Let's take it one relationship milestone at a time, please. Thanks," I chuckled, trying to keep my heart from beating out of my chest.
