The front door opened soon as my feet hit the porch and an angry faced Johnny stood in front of me. “Get in, now,” He commanded and I gave him a look that felt like the warning look Derek gave me last night.

“I understand you are angry at me Johnny, but there’s no reason for you to be snappy.” I spoke calmly and stepped in and took a seat on the couch. I sighed as the comfy cushions hugged my body.

“Are you kidding me here, Ashlyn? I understand that you have a mate, an Alpha mate. I understand that you think because you are almost eighteen that you think you don’t have to listen to me anymore, but listen here young lady-“

I snapped my eyes at him. “My wolf almost came out last night.” I told my red faced brother.

“Spending the night at the kid’s house when I asked you not to, then coming back smelling like a damn brewery! Don’t you see that I’m just trying to protect you? You’re trying to grow up too fast!” He finished breathing heavy.

“Johnny,” I said calmly and he met my eyes. “My wolf almost broke free last night.” I repeated and sat up slowly. Johnny’s face was a classic picture of a mix between proud and shock, I laughed.

“WHAT!” He roared. I blinked at him and waited. Johnny ran a hand through his hair and sat down by me and looked me over.

“What do you mean, almost?” He questioned sounding a bit calmer.

I took a deep breath. “Long story short, I ran into an ex of Craven’s, she was being a stubborn slutty bitch, I started seeing red and my anger got the best of me I guess. My wolf started coming out and it was the most painful thing I’ve experience ever Johnny, and it wasn’t even a full shift. Craven helped calm me down so I could push my wolf back down, I won the battle.” I finished and peeked at Johnny.

His face was thoughtful, and a little sad. “I should have been there for that, I’m sorry Ash what with all the yelling on my part, but you don’t realize how much stress I’m under. I haven’t even told mom and dad about what all is going on, I was supposed to protect you, not let you get mated by an Alpha of all people.” My brother looked so disappointed and sad, I felt immediately sorry and guilty.

“Hey, Johnny if you think about it I would have figure out about this world soon anyway, what happened last night at Craven’s house with my wolf proved that I’m going to shift. None of this is your fault; you’re the best big brother a girl could ask for.” I smiled at him and felt tears form in my eyes.

Johnny pulled me in for a hug then groaned. “Ugh you smell, how much did you have to drink last night, Ash?” He asked pushing me away jokingly. I rolled my eyes and flipped my hair in his direction.

“I got it spilt on my shirt, thank you very much,” I lied and hoped he didn’t ask any more questions.

He ran a hand through his blond hair and sighed. “You also reek of an Alpha, and a mate claim, go shower and sleep off the hangover you must be feeling.” Johnny motioned towards the stairs with a grin. I shoved his shoulder and made my way towards the stairs just as I heard the door open and heard Leslie ask about me.

I’m glad Johnny found Leslie; those two are a match made in heaven. When I move out of here eventually the thought of knowing that Leslie will be with Johnny soothes me; He can have someone to worry over all the time besides me.
