AISLIN•

I'm finally going to see my niece and nephew again. I'd been waiting for a year to finally see their smiling faces. I've been busy with work, and they lived in New Jersey, while I still lived in Nevada.  After hitting the airport, I got Uber to take me to their house.  I paid the man and scurry our the car to Angel and Aviana's porch.

My heart thunders inside my rib cage, but I knock shakily on the door, calming my excitement.

Clonk! Clonk! Clonk!

The door opens, and Angel stands there with a wide grin spread on his face before he pulls me into a bear hug. I hug him back with as much force since I truly missed him.

"God, I missed you," I move back to look at him. He didn't change. He still has that same boyish grin I grew up watching on his face, same lambent blonde hair and blue eyes looking like a true Aryan.  His hair is ruffled like he'd just gotten out the bed even though he probably did since it's only 9 in the morning.

"I missed you so much more," he shakes his head. "Aviana was talking about you visiting for the last three weeks. I'm so glad you're here."

I chuckle. "I missed all of you," I look up at my brother with a mischievous grin, "especially my little Pumpkins. Where are they?"

Angel doesn't say anything and starts walking to the kitchen. I follow suit.

Halo and Noel are seated at the table, munching away on their sandwiches which Angel had probably fixed at the last minute. They finally turn away from the tv and look toward the direction of where Angel and I stand.

"AUNT AISSIE!" Halo squeals with all her might, and jumps out the chair running to me. I almost break down as I run halfway to sweep her into my waiting arms.

I hug her tight like she'd disintegrate in my arms. Just like any other aunt, I peck feather light kisses on her golden cheeks making her giggle. I pull away to relish in how beautiful my niece is. I look up to Noel who doesn't look as eager to see me.  Last time he saw me, he was younger.  And very bashful. I guess he still is.

"Hey Princeling," I walk over to huddle around his high chair.  I touch the small curls on top of his head.  Noel gazes at me with dark brown eyes that he inherited from someone else in the family.  He is just as beautiful as Halo.  I'd bragged to my roommates telling them that my niece and nephew were the cutest children on earth.

When he doesn't say anything I unlock him from his high chair and wrap my arms around him.  At first he's shocked, his small mouth opening slightly.  Then he gets a small grin on his face and his tiny arms close around my neck.

That's right boy, I'm family.

"I missed you, Aunt Aissie," Halo smiles looking up at me showing a bunch of teeth that had grown in.

A lump grows in my throat as I squeeze Noel just a bit tighter. "I missed you both, Pumpkins. But I'm back now; for the whole weekend. And we're going to have a great time, aren't we?"

"Yeah!!" Halo cheers throwing her hands in the air while Noel nods.  I laugh.

"Halo, can you go get Momma for me please?" Angel asks slipping into a seat at the table.

"Okay, Daddy," she says and hikes up the stairs like a champ. No stumble, no trips.

"What are you guys feeding them? She got like fifty times bigger, and Noel is like a completely different child," I say giving kisses to the little boy's cheeks.

"That's what time will do to a baby," Angel shrugs.

"How was and is the terrible two's?" I just remembered.
