"I'm home Avi!" I stroll in dropping my briefcase and making a mental note to pick it up before Avi sees it. But when I walk into the living room, my wife isn't in there screaming at the tv like she usually does. I melt into the couch and begin loosening my tie. Today was a hard day and I had to sit through a boring meeting. Sometimes I hate being a mechanical engineer.

The alarm chimes when someone else comes in and all I hear is "stupid door! Stupid pictures. Stupid phone! Stupid Luther!"

I chuckle listening to Halo. My daughter's temper spiked like mine. I get up to meet her halfway to try to calm her down. Luther probably said something wrong since the boy had history getting black eyes from her. Believe me, I couldn't be more proud.

When I see her, everything I thought didn't even come close to the real thing. face looks like an overcooked pepperoni on a pizza, her hair is frizzy and climing through the air, but what catches my attention the most are the tears that stream down her face. She rapidly wipes it away when she sees me.

"Daddy," she tries to cheer up but I read right through her. She forgets that I created her.

"Sweetie, what the hell happened?" I walk closer, and that's when she looses it again. Everything comes rumbling down. Halo flies into my arms, and buries her head deep into my chest like she used to do when she was younger.

"He... he-he broke up with me Daddy." Forget pretty cries, Halo is bawling, and shamelessly clawing at my suit. Nonetheless, I hold her tighter.

"I'm so sorry, baby," I rub her back. "He lost a beautiful strong young woman."

She cries even more, hiccuping at sometime. I let my arms cage her from the cruel world, but since she was born, I was preparing for this day. I knew when someone broke her heart, I was going to have go after them, but it didn't occur to me that my heart is being pulled on too. Seeing her in pain hurts me.

I try to let her go, but her grasp tightens. She shakes her head and gazes at me with sparkling green eyes. "Don't let me go, Daddy."

I sigh landing a kiss on her forehead. "I won't, Sweetie. I won't."

Halo ends up crying herself to sleep on me, so I had to carry her to her room. Her face is still splotched red, but she looks much calmer. I turn to close her bedroom door when her phone rings. I grab it and answer.

"Halo, please. I'm doing the right thing you know I am," Luther's voice echoes a little. I sigh, trying to think about what I want to say.

"You did do the right thing," I reply sitting down in the hallway. "You didn't want to lead her on, and use her. I hate saying this, but I owe you respect for that and I thank you for not cheating on her."

"Mr. Meyers... look I didn't mean—"

"Now down to business... I don't want you near my daughter. I don't want you to call her again, see her, or even check up on her. You want a more mature woman who won't mind to clean your ass up? Then go get her. My daughter is no longer in the likes of you and I would appreciate if you didn't reach out to us," I smile satisfied. I've been waiting for years to say this. "Thanks for trying though buddy, it was great having you around. But I guess all good things come to an end eventually."

Beep.

With a grunt, I stand up and throw my suit jacket into our room on the other side. I unbutton the first few buttons on my shirt and collapse on the couch as soon as I see it. Laying my head back, I think about Halo. She's going through it. But I'm glad I'm here for her. And when Aviana finds out, she'll be broken-hearted. She really liked Luther, and supported their relationship way more then I did. I began thinking my wife liked the little youngster more than she liked me.
