•HALO•

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to. Cry, cry," I lay flat on the bed singing along to Melanie Martinez letting everyone know that I feel like a complete shitstorm. I ignore the pesky tears that slide into my ear.

My door opens abruptly and smacks into the wall. I sigh not even caring, because usually that would trigger me to screaming my head off.

"Halo," It's Momma. Probably to tell me to stop whining and that I should be happy, and that it's my birthday. Like that's what I really want right now. "Daddy wants to see you downstairs. He said wear something comfortable."

I grunt as a response turning over. I really just want to be alone. I've never felt this way before. Luther was... my first love. I loved him incredibly and he just ended us. I feel like someone ripped my heart right out of my chest. As if Klaus Mikaelson from The Originals did it himself. But even if Klaus did rip my heart out, Luther did more damage than anybody else.

Momma rubs my shoulder softly making me want to cry more. With that, she walks back out. Then peeks her head back in. "Happy birthday. I love you."

I stay in bed for five more minutes, allowing myself to wallow just for a bit. After my pity party, I brush my hair, go through my morning routine, and put on a T-shirt that Noel got me yesterday for my birthday. Said that if he didn't buy it then, it would be gone if he went back looking for it. I wear a blue light jean with black sneakers. I looked like a decent human, instead of a heartbroken, tear-streaked-faced monster.

I scurry downstairs to find Daddy on his phone, typing away. Momma is nowhere in sight, and Noel is cheesin at his phone.

Weirdo.

"Morning Daddy," I say cheerfully giving him a kiss on the cheek. Like someone smacked him out of nowhere, Daddy scans me questionably.

"Morning, Darling," he puts away his phone still scrutinizing me. "I have plans. You ready?"

"Ready for whatever!" I smile widely. "Just let me fix my coffee."

"No. Just come with me."

"Wait!" Noel shouts running to us. He also scans me from head to toe and then flashes a smirk. "Nice choice of outfit, sister. Your shirt is banging, please tell me who got it for you."

I roll my eyes. "My egotistical brother who has a short term memory. See ya!"

Daddy shakes his head at a banter. Already out the door, and almost into the car, I take a deep breath. Pretending to be normal right now is hard. Actors deserve more credit.

Daddy finally joins me, and takes us to a cafe. It's a small cafe, not many people. Nice aura, chiming bells that calm your spirits, and waiters that are smiling from ear to ear. Daddy sits across from me.

"Order anything for breakfast. My treat."

I sigh. "Can I buy you something?"

He frowns. "What the heck? No. It's your birthday, plus the man should always pay."

I shake my head no, glaring. "No, daddy. The man should pay half and the woman should pay half. I would want my man to meet me halfway. To be equal. Not throw something on the other."

Daddy looks bewildered before he smiles, the creases on his head forming. There's slight grey hairs growing through his mop of blonde hair but he's still handsome. He grabs my hand, and squeezes lightly.

"What an amazing, intelligent strong woman you've molded into. I'm so, so proud and blessed to call you my daughter. But today's your birthday. Let me pay."
