Two weeks later (early November!)
School was surprisingly normal the following Monday. Eric and I acted just as we normally did, although at first I could tell he was relieved to see me, and then he a smile came to his face, which I’m guessing is because of the baby. I had told Chrissy, when we were alone, about what had happened with both Eric and then with Eric and my parents. She was shocked to say the least, that we had told my parents about Eric being my teacher. I then told her about Eric’s and mine’s plan, and she didn’t think that was too bad of an idea.
On the weekend Eric and I spent both some alone time and then time with my parents. They were gradually warming up to him. My mom wasn’t thrilled but she accepted our love and tried to convince my dad that we did really love each other. My dad though would give Eric the cold shoulder but that didn’t stop Eric from trying, and every once and a while it worked because my dad would let his guard down while watching sports or something and him and Eric would have a conversation before my dad realized it and went back to only grunting as responses to Eric.
My mom was trying and putting on a good face whenever Eric was there or mentioned. I know she wasn’t 100% happy with the idea, but she was trying to make up for this summer and she could tell that I really did love him, and how important he was to me. I was just happy that at least one of my parents were trying. And it gave me hope about my dad because of the moments when he let his guard down with Eric.
I watched belly, as it got slightly bigger, but not noticeably. I knew that would change soon though. I had gotten sick a few times, but luckily when it was at home my parents hadn’t heard me, and when at school it wasn’t in Eric’s class so he wasn’t worried, I had gotten sick a few times at his house and he was always right next to me making sure I was fine and asking if there was anything I needed or the just silently sat there so I knew he wasn’t going to leave me. I had mood swing but luckily they weren’t that bad, but I figured that would change. Even though Eric really couldn’t see the change in my belly and even though he knew the baby couldn’t hear yet, he talked to my belly all the time. It always brought a smile to my face at the thought of him caring for our child.
Today was Sunday and I had planned a picnic for my parents, Eric and I. My mom and I had made all the food ourselves. This is going to be when Eric and I told them about the baby, we know that it probably wasn’t the best to do in public but we also thought they might not want to draw to much attention to ourselves out in public, so we decided to go ahead and do it.
Eric came to our house beforehand and tried to help us before we sent him to the living room with my dad to watch tv after he dropped one of the trays and broke it. After my mom and I had finally packed up the basket with the food, plates, napkins, utensils, and blankets, we walked out the door. Eric and I had picked a perfect spot, earlier, that was secluded but not too much. Eric and I got into my car (but he drove), and my parents followed behind in theirs.
While in the car, I started to get nervous about how my parent would react. “Eric, are you sure we should tell them today? I mean what if I don’t start showing for a few months, then we just rushed into everything.” I knew I was being ridiculous, but I couldn’t help it I was just too nervous. I knew that if my parents kicked me out that I would move in with Eric (even though he didn’t want my parents to react that way, he still wanted me to move in with him).
