12- part uno!

Eric’s POV

I watched Kate as she slept. I can’t believe that all of this has happened. First we meet and fall in love, then I find out she is my student. After that she finds out she is pregnant. And now here she is in the hospital, after a car wreck. I’m still shocked that she and the baby should make a full recovery. I love them both so much, that is why I can’t stand to leave them.

Lisa has been in the room with me, we are both keeping a watchful vigil over Kate, only leaving o go to the bathroom, just to make sure nothing else bad happens to her or the baby. I’m so glad that we have her support even though we don’t have both of her parents’ support at least we have one. I was worried that if her parents were unsupportive that she would feel abandoned and that we were a bad choice for her.

Honestly I still can’t believe that she is pregnant, with my baby! That I’m going to be a father! I’ve always wanted a big family, since I had such a small one growing up. I was very happy that I was able to have such a great bond with my grandma but sometimes I got very lonely. I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with Kate and I want our baby to have siblings, even if they do fight sometimes.

Thinking about my future with Kate always brought a smile to my face. If anything would have happened to her or the baby, I have no idea what I would have done with myself. I don’t know how I would have gone on living.

I was broken from my thoughts when I heard Kate start to stir. I looked down at her; she was struggling to open her eyes. I felt so bad for her, first having to be pregnant and go through all that, and now being pregnant after being in a bad car wreck with broken bones. I don’t know how she is going to deal with that. A smile came to her face when she finally open her eyes all the way and saw me sitting next to her.

“How are you feeling?” I asked her.

“Fine. How about yourself?” I chuckled at her.

“I’m doing better knowing that you and the baby are fine.” I said honestly.  I stood up, kissed her forehead, and sat back down. Her gaze went from me to the rest of the room. I could tell she was looking for her mother. “She had to go to the bathroom, she should be back any second.” Just as I stopped speaking the door crept open and revealed Lisa. “Speaking of the devil.” I said jokingly.

“What about me this time?” Lisa asked jokingly as she looked at me and entered the room. Then her gaze moved to Kate, “and you need too stop waking up when I’m not here. It makes me look bad. How come you never wake up when he leaves to pee?” Kate told me how her family is very open, so it didn’t really shock me when Lisa said something like that.

“I woke up 5 seconds ago. Calm down.” Kate said to her mom in a joking manor. “What time is it?” she asked changing the subject.

I looked at my watch, “10:32”

“Why are you guys still her, then?” Kate asked.

“What do you mean?” Lisa and I said at the same time.

“You guys should go home and sleep. So you guys will be ready for work tomorrow.” She said almost as if saying duhh.

“Go to work? Are you crazy? I’m not leaving you.” I said stubbornly.

“I already took off work, sweetheart. I’m not leaving you here all by yourself all day.” Lisa said.

“I’ll be fine.” Kate protested. “And Eric you can’t not be at school tomorrow it will be too suspicious. You have to go.” Then she got an OH SHIT look on her face. “You have to tell Chrissy, for me. She turns her phone off at 10 on school nights. I’m not allowing you to miss, even if I have to get out of this bed and take you there myself.”
