Chapter seven
A few days have past, and I haven't heard from Jason since my poor attempt at ignoring him.
"No Sasha, what are you doing?"
I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I needed to forget about him, even if I had no clue about what he was feeling, I knew damn well what I was feeling. And it was wrong.
I marched through the halls of school, eyes on the floor, that I almost didn't realize the small crowd of students forming in one specific corner.
I really wasn't someone to stick my nose up somebody else's business but, I couldn't help myself this time.
I took a peek at what was inside the circle of students, only to have my eyes almost bulge out of their sockets.
There he was, James Black in all his glory, pinning poor Daniel to the lockers. His back hitting the rusting metal, with each and every shove James sent his way.
Never have I ever, and I mean never, seen something so heartbreaking. His glasses were on the ground, his backpack was open and his books and papers were on the floor.
"I warned you Daniel, I fucking warned you!" James yelled, yet his tone was still calm, trying not to bring too much attention to himself.
If you had told me that what I would do next would make my life a living hell for the rest of the year, I wouldn't have came to school to begin with.
I don't know what overcame me, or what pushed me to do what I did next.
I pushed through the crowd, and stood in between the two of them, my back towards Daniel.
"What are you doing?" I asked calmly.
James looked at me for a second, not entirely sure what my deal was. Sheer confusion was all over his face. Then he just laughed.
He laughed.
He laughed so hard, his voice filled the halls. He was bent over, hands on his knees.
Then he stopped laughing.
At that moment, I wished for the ground to swallow me whole. The look on his face was deadly.
"Oh Sadie, you don't want to do this. Step away, would you?"
I don't know what it was that planted this feeling inside of me. Maybe it was the fact that his face was now inches away from mine, or the fact that he got my name wrong, yet again.
But at that moment, it wasn't Sasha talking. It was someone even I couldn't recognize.
"No. You step away."
Shut up! What do you think you're doing? Oh my god you're gonna get both of us killed.
The voice in my head literally screamed.
He curved one of his brows upwards, taken by surprise.
"Bet you're not used to people putting you in your place. Well let me do the honors Black, you're an inconsiderate jerk, who thinks he can somehow step all over people and get away with it. Now I could go on and on, but you're not worth my precious time, some of us have way better things to do than bring others down. Let me put it simply, you're a sad, pathetic excuse of a human being, and you have my pity."
James couldn't believe his ears, his mouth would open, then close back immediately, as if he was at a loss for words.
I looked at Daniel and gave him a small tilt of the head, ushering for us to get the hell out of here.
