Chapter five

I woke up, early. Very early.

Go back to sleep. You need it woman.

But I couldn't. My mind was way too corrupted to do so.

I reached to tap the little pendant around my neck. But I couldn't feel anything.

It can't be lost. It just can't be.

I started panicking. I searched everywhere. I couldn't find it.

This was the only thing I had left from him.

And it was gone.

This day couldn't have started in a worse way.

"And did he say anything about me at all?" Elena asked curiously.

"No, not really." I lied.

What was I supposed to tell her? Oh, you know, he started crying and basically pleaded you to come back to him. Nothing too important. No. I wasn't going to expose him like that. Even though Elena was my best friend, and that information would probably be very important to her, but, after last night, I felt like I just needed to keep it a secret for now.

"Ugh I'm so mad at myself! This wouldn't have happened if you were there Sasha!" She whined like a 3 year old.

I shook my head, disappointed. Obviously it's my fault now.

"Let's do something fun today, okay? To get your mind off of things. Maybe we'll go to the mall? What do you say?" I proposed, hoping she'd accept. I was definitely not ready for her whining all day long.

"Whatever." She shrugged, carelessly.

I went to the kitchen to get my car keys, when I saw a sticky note on the fridge.

I chose to ignore it. I already knew what was written on it anyway.

And after waiting for Elena for a good 15 minutes to get ready, we were out the door.

"Elenaaaaa, are you done in there?" I knocked on the door of the room she was in. She's been trying on the same two pairs of jeans, over and over again. Apparently, she was trying to figure out which one made her, "juicy doubles", as she called it, look better.

Finally, she came out the room, "I didn't like them both."

"What? Elena- never mind. Can we go now? It's 8 o'clock!" I complained.

She, thankfully, agreed, after making me pinky-promise, to take her to the mall another time.

I turned the lock, and entered my house. The lights were on. I was confused at first, but when i stepped into the living room, everything made perfect sense.

Takeout was placed on the coffee table. The TV was on, showing a scene of "Friends", my favorite show. Blankets were thrown on the couch and then I realized what they were covering.

I felt my heart clenching.

I ran to the kitchen, and checked the note on the fridge.

I'll be coming home early today baby. We'll have some fun. Love, your mama x

I put my hand to my mouth, trying my best to keep my choked up cry, inside, but failed miserably.

I have just missed a night with my mom. She actually thought of it, and planned it, but i didn't even pay attention to it.
