It had been a couple of days since the full moon and my wounds were healed and everything was back to normal, or as normal as Beacon Hills can get. Scott and I kind of just pretended that we didn't have a moment the other day and I guess that's a good thing. I was starting to fit in at school... I mean being friends with the most popular girl and school and the star LAX player seems to help a lot. I had just joined cross-country; I was hoping it would take my mind off everything that had gone down. Running has always been an outlet for me. I can just kind of run away from my problems for a little while.

I finished tying my black Nike shoes and walked over to the start line of the race. I stood in-between Scott and Isaac, Stiles was on the other side of Scott. I pulled my hair back into a tight pony tail and looked up at the boys around me, waiting for something to be said.

"What made you join cross country?" Stiles asked, looking around Scott so that we made eye contact.

A blush crept onto my once cold checks. One of the most dominant reasons I joined cross-country was because of how I felt around Scott. But I can't tell him that. It's too soon to develop feelings and I keep hoping my newfound feelings will vanish as quickly as they appeared.

"Well with all the crazy stuff going on I figured I better be able to run." I laughed, mentally patting myself on the back for the fast excuse.

Coach blew his whistle and we all took off running. I've always been a fast runner, and now with whatever is supernaturally going on with me, I'm even faster. I was leading the group, all the other runners desperately trying to catch me. Everything around me was a blur the smell of pine flooded my senses.

A couple miles into our run, the smell of pine was overtaken by the scent of blood. I saw something that I will never un-see. I came across a fork in the path and in the middle was a large oak tree. Tied onto the tree was a dirty blonde haired boy and he was bleeding from his neck due to a metallic rope that slit it. His head was bashed and he was covered in blood. He was murdered and left here for someone to find, and with my luck of course I would be the one to find him. I let out an ear-numbing scream, followed by a whimper, and fell to my knees, covering my teary eyes with my hands. I heard a stampede of footsteps running towards the sound of my scream.

Scott and Isaac ran directly to me. Scott kneeled down next to me and slowly pulled my hands away from my eyes. He and Isaac pulled me up off the ground and Scott wrapped me in his arms. The usual comfort I find in his presence not having the same effects this time.

"What...- is - what" I sobbed pulling away and looking to Isaac.

I feel like I am constantly finding refuge in Scott's arms.

Stiles ran to us, panting and gasping, "We think someone out there is doing this like... Human sacrifices."

"Human... Sacrifices" I stammered going weak in the knees. My mind began to race; someone out there is literally sacrificing humans. My stomach twisted at the thought and the smell of rotting flesh and blood lingered in the air. Why were none of them so torn up about this? "So you mean someone is killing teenagers for self gain?" I asked a bad taste filling my mouth.

Stiles nodded, his witty smile nowhere to be seen, only terror lingered in his eyes.

I felt something churn inside me, I opened my mouth to bombard them with more questions but I was cut off. I ran a couple of steps before lurching forward and vomiting on the grass.

Once my stomach was completely empty I looked up at my peers, "Why did no one tell me? Why are they killing these people?" I asked my voice cracking
