(not a poem. just a deep thought)
there's a phrase that i keep thinking about. how true it really is:
ars longa, vita brevis
~~~~~ translation ~~~~~
art is long, life is short
with this quote, i find it...deeper then what it's actually saying. the meaning is not saying 'art' as in fine arts (acting/music/etc). it means a skill. a skill in which it takes years and years of practice. ex — a person training to become a doctor, dentist, etc. but it doesn't just mean those things. of course writing takes a long time to master. no one can perfectly write, no one can perfectly create a song, no one can act perfectly all in one shot. it takes years of practice. but, by time you master this skill, your life is becoming shorter. this skill will last forever. poets out there: your work will last forever. maybe when you're alive, it isn't noticed. you spend years and years trying to perfect the way you write. but after you pass, it may be picked up by someone.
ars longa, vita brevis — art is long, life is short.
your art (skill) will last forever. even when you pass. but your life is short. so use it. use your life to do what you love...because in reality, you don't have forever.
