Bucky stood there motionless as the tears came streaming down his face. What the fuck had just happened? He kissed his best friend, his crush, and Steve had walked away. Bucky was for damn sure that Steve had had feelings for him as well. Steve had pointed out that a long time has passed, and he was exactly right. It has been seventy years since they last really knew each other. Her Bucky was, someone who was trying to adjust to a new life, while Steve had already adjusted to this new age and time. Bucky had a lot of shit to figure out. One thing was for certain, he would win Steve's feelings back. He would have them back no matter what the cost.

Where was Bucky to go though? He didn't have any money, no car, nothing but the clothes on his back. Was it possible that he could stay with Steve? Probably. Steve would never turn his back on him, and that was for damn sure. Steve was about fifty feet away from him. Bucky broke out in a run and ran right in front of him. He was able to catch Steve off gaurd and stop him in his tracks.

"Bucky,,,," Steve sighed. "I already told you that we cannot be more then friends. I mean it. I am not looking to get in this kind of situation with you right now."  Steve looked at him with a gloomy face,

"I know..." Bucky was upset, but there was no time for that. "I have a favor to ask of you."

"What is that?" Cap wondered. What could he want besides dating?

"Can I please stay with you? I have nothing, Steve, I was barely able to pull those strings for that flight here. Please Steve. I have nowhere else to go. Don't make me beg..." Bucky gave him a little puppy dog face.

Steve gave his good old friend a comforting look. "Of course. Of course you can stay with me buddy. I have an apartment right down by the Business District. It's got two bedrooms. We'll set you up in the other one tonight."

Bucky smiled and wanted to hug him, but he had to restrain from doing it. He was relieved of Cap's answer. "Thank you so much man. I really do appreciate this."

"Anything for my best friend." he smiled. "Can I please buy you something for dinner? You look a little hungry." Bucky was starving to be honest. He hasn't ate much. It looks like he did because of all the muscles he had from Hydra, but his face was very gaunt and pale. He had barely eaten anything in the last month.

"That would be awesome." Bucky smiled, loving the kindness and warmth radiating from Steve.

They reentered the French Quarter and headed for Cafe Du Monde. Sure, it was a beignet and coffee place, but it was the nearest food place, Cap ordered there food while Bucky found a table for them to sit at, Cap returned with fresh beignets and coffee. He had the biggest smile on his face since he knew he was starting to make Bucky happy. That was he cared about right now. He discarded the kiss that happened earlier, and gave more attention to his dear friend.

"Chow down!" Steve smiled as he watched Bucky experience a beignet for the first time. Bucky could not stop smiling because it was so delicious to him. Bucky liked the coffee too. It was good to have some food like this. He couldn't remember what Hydra had given him. He blocked those kind of memories away from him.

They ate in silence. People around them chattered and went about their day. It was a gorgeous day in Nola as the sun beamed down on them and the birds chirped nearby. A horse drawn carriage full of tourists rode by a few streets ahead. Bucky was falling in love with the charm of New Orleans. He never wanted to leave, especially now that he had Cap with him.

"So," Bucky said as he finished his coffee. "What have I missed? I don't really know much because all Hydra programmed my brain was to kill you. That's all I know. Well, I do know that technology has evolved a lot. Some not in good ways...." Bucky remembered being tortured every time he started realizing his past life. He flinched.

"Well," Steve began, "we have things called cell phones." He pulled out his blue iPhone 5 and showed it to Bucky. "Iit's a mobile telephone. You can call anyone from wherever you want to. You can play games on it. You can even take pictures." He took a picture of himself and showed it to Bucky. Bucky smiled because he thought it was a very cute and satisfying picture.

        "That's really cool!"

"Yeah, we are definitely going to have to get you one. Also, we need to get you some new clothes, That black shirt and blue jeans look is not going to work forever," Steve let out a small laugh. "With the checks I get from S.H.E.I.L.D., I can buy you some new clothes."

"Steve, you don't have to." Bucky replied.

"I know," Steve took his hand. "I want to. I want to help you get back up on your feet and give you some balance in your life again."

"Thanks." Bucky looked at Steve. "I am very grateful to have a friend like you."

"Yeah, same for you man. I have missed you so much. There is so much I have to show you with this new world we live in. Trust me, it is nothing like the 1940s anymore. Oh, and being gay is even more accepted now,.." Steve realized he hit a nerve with Bucky since he knew Bucky had feelings for him.

"Oh, well, that's really good to hear!" Bucky put on a fake smile. "Maybe I can go out and find me a new man,,,"

They were silent for a second.

"There's also a new thing called Starbucks!" Steve broke the silence. "They have been around for awhile now but they are the best coffee place ever! I have to take you there one day!"

"Okay!" Bucky agreed. "I can't wait to see what the new world has to offer!"

"Well, you are going to absolutely love it." Steve assured him. He checked his phone and saw that it was almost seven o'clock. "Are you ready to go home? It's not late but I'm ready to get home."

"I thought you'd never ask." Bucky smiled as they got up and made their way home. Things were finally starting to seem normal for him, and he couldn't help but seem very happy. He wasn't sure if him and Steve would ever be more than friends, and that was okay as long as they had each other.
