The next morning, I wake up already wanting to go back to bed. After procastinating for a while, I check the time.
8:01
"Shit, Dani wake up now!" I yell at her.
Of course mom left the house early this morning and forgot to wake us up. We have to be at school in less than 30 minutes. Great.
"What is it god Lou I need to sleep!" Dani whines.
"Well you'll sleep in the bus because we have to leave now!" I start to push her off to bed in attempt to wake her up.
"The bus?" she questions.
"Uhm yeahh how else do you think we'll get to school?" I almost laugh at her stupid question. I don't know why she was so suprised that we were taking the bus, it's not like mom was there to bring us herself.
We get ready in 15 minutes and we barely catch the bus to make it on time.
As I get to school I wave goodbye to Dani and I wish her goodluck on her first day, but I know she will be fine. Contrary to me, Dani is good at fitting in and making friends fast, that's why it's always heartbreaking to her when she has to leave them behind after mom finds yet another place to move to. Again.
Im good at blending in and not making a big impression on anyone when I move to different schools. I got this all down, I was used to it.
My first class went pretty well, the teacher was fine I guess, Science was never my strongest class anyways. The only thing I remember from that class was this guy with weird colored hair that asked about when were we going to have a class about sex and how to be safe. He caught my attention because of his hair and because suddenly the class started to laugh at his remark. So mature.
At lunch I decided to sit inside. I tried to find my sister in the crowd but she was probably already outside with her new friends. That's how my sister was, she was the type of girl that was really social and as much as I would have liked to sit with her at lunch, I knew she already had plans with her soon to be best friends. As much as I liked to be unknown, I sometimes wished I was like her and I would make friends easily.
I decided to sit down at an unocupied table and after about 5 minutes at playing around with my food with my fork, this guy comes and sits next to me.
"Hey" the mystery guy says casually.
"Um hey? I answer confused. "Do I know you?"
"I'm in your English class" he says blankly opening his juice box.
"Oh sorry I didn't notice you were."
I barely remembered anything from that class.
His hazel eyes were staring at me, they were quite captivating. I had to admit it, he was kind of handsome. His hair looked as if it wasn't brushed at all and it just sat there at the top of his head, like a bush. When he smiled at me dimples appeared at each side of his mouth. His smile seemed contagious, once he smiled I wanted to smile too, but I bit inside my cheek to retain myself from looking stupid.
I hate to admit it but he looked pretty attractive.
After our little staring contest ended, this whole thing started to become awkward.
I let out a small laugh and hoped he hadn't heard it.
"Why are you laughing?" he clearly had heard me and I was starting to regret laughing in the first place.
"I'm not sure" i paused, "this is awkward." I answered quickly. I never really was good at talking to people I didn't know well. I was kind of a shy person.
"You just made this awkward!" he laughed back enphasising on the "you".
"I'm sorry i'm such an awkward person!" I giggle back to him.
The rest of lunch we just sat there not knowing what to say.
It was pretty awkward.
