The next morning Dani and I woke up earlier to make sure we would get to school on time.
My classes today really sucked, this school really isn't great. School never really was my thing anyways but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.
At lunch I sat all by myself. I was kind of dissapointed that the mysterious guy from yesterday didn't show up. I mean I should have expected it, we just met yesterday and our conversation was awkward and boring. I just hoped that maybe he would come..
The rest of the day was as crappy as it was in the morning, so I was happy to find Dani after school and go straight home so I could finish my homework and go to bed.
"Lou! Louu!" I hear my sister yell from the other side of the courtyard.
She was dragging some guy by the sleeve towards me. Great. I had completely forgotten her stupid guy friend was coming over after school today. I really wasn't in the mood to play the overprotective mom-while-trying-to-stay-cool kind of thing today, I had done it before and it's not my favorite person to be. Especially when it's toward Dani and her friends. I see Dani pointing to her friend clearly really happy about a boy coming over tonight.
"Oh ya well c'mon let's go before we miss the bus." I tell them.
I wasn't in the mood to talk to Dani's friend yet so during the whole bus ride home I let them talk, but that doesn't mean I didn't have my eye on him. I still didn't know what to think about this guy.
When we got home I started to prepare diner when Dani's friend walked up to me.
"Hi i'm Calum." he put out his hand for a handshake.
"Hum hey." I shook his hand, not expecting him to introduce himself like that.
He silently walked away and helped me set the table. Maybe this Calum guy wasn't as bad as I thought.
During diner, Dani started to ramble about how her day was again and she was talking so fast I had difficulty understanding what she was saying.
As much as I loved my sister, I sometimes wondered how her friends could tolerate her.
After Dani had finished talking -which seemed as an eternity- I decided to take this opportunity to find out a little more about Calum.
"So, Calum," I already felt like an overprotective mom asking her daughters guy friend uncomfortable questions to make him spill all his little secrets. I decided to hold back on my "challenging" questions I had prepared for him. Afterall, Calum seemed like a nice decent guy. "What are some of your hobbies?" I finally asked.
"Oh I actually love to play hockey" he answered joyfully.
I wasn't expecting Calum to be a hockey kind of guy but that just made him seem more interesting.
"Oh really that's cool." not really knowing what to say. "What's your favorite hockey team?" I asked just to make conversation.
"Oh my favorites gotta be the LA kings!" finally seeming interested in what he was talking about.
After finishing eating we cleaned up the table and my sister gave me a little nudge, "he's not that bad is he?" she smiles at me.
I guess she was right, Calum wasn't that dab and now that Dani knew I tolerated him, I felt like I was going to be seeing more of this Calum guy.
And I was right.
