SOME SORT OF TRIGGER WARNING ON BETTY DOING HER THING WITH HER NAILS (still considered hurting yourself) BEWARE ⚠️

{Veronica's POV}

I was so happy to see all my best friends, but I already knew Betty wasn't telling me And Kevin something. But I try not to think much of it.
Me and Betty walk down the halls of Riverdale High, "so Betty .." I say out of nowhere , she turns over to look at me "yeah?" She smiles "I was wondering.." she nods "If you wanted to try out for the river Vixens with me ?"
Her emerald eyes widen "V , Cheryl hates me . She's gonna cut me off before I even enter the gym!" I raise my brow with confidence "I'll make sure that doesn't happen." We continue our way through the halls.

{Betty's POV}
Cheryl has given everyone Thats trying out yellow baseball shirts with two white stripes on the sleeves. And some black shorts or leggings. Cheryl Blossom. She hates me. Don't know why but I'm guessing it has something to do with Family issues , Yeah the coopers and the blossoms have been having war for ages , I don't know why..but ..I'm surprised we haven't killed each other. My thoughts are interrupted by Cheryl herself "Alright! Some of you are gonna make it some of you aren't ! But remember what I want.I want fire!" She snaps
(30 minutes later)
Me and Veronica are the last ones after midge clump and some other girl I've never seen.
"Oh look at that !"
"Veronica lodge and -Betty cooper" she grins "this should be good.." Me and Veronica perform our performance
At the end Cheryl writes Down some notes "Veronica..Welcome to the River Vixens!" She claps "Betty..Better luck next time..." Veronica looks at me ..
"Cheryl may I ask why I didn't make it ?" I ask as My fist begin to clench
"Maybe because your not fit .. I want fire , you just don't got that" she snaps . My nails begin to dig into my palms softly.
"I understand that our families never got along ..bu—"
"Can't you understand , You. DIDNT. Make The . team."
My nails begin to dig deeper into my palm, I wanted to cry She is just ruining my life . Cheering was probably gonna be my only escape..
"Cheryl bombshell" Veronica speaks up
She clears her throat "That Certainty , That entitlement you wear on your head like a crown.It won't last..eventually someone's gonna take that crown away."
She stops and says "or maybe? That reckoning is now..and maybe that reckoning is me."
She smirks , I've gotta admit Veronica has always been the best ..I love her confidence . Veronica continues
"U wanted fire ? Sorry , Cheryl bombshell ..Our specialty is ice." Everyone begins to Oooooo around and Cheryl presses her Lips into a flat line .
"Veronica ..AND Betty ,welcome to the River Vixens." She says making sure "and" stands out .

Archie and Kevin catch up with us at lunch.
Veronica proudly sits down with me and says "Guess who made the river Vixens? " she says Grinning "Thats right Veronica lodge And Betty Cooper did!" She squeals , "thank you V , I wouldn't have made it if it weren't for you." She nods "Anytime B." Kevin and Archie both grin too "Betty and Veronica that's great!"
