Every member of this pride had been trained to hunt giants. Buffalo, giraffe and the elephants. A buffalo had a horn that could rip flesh. A giraffe had a kick that could break bones. And an elephant had the might and force of a titan.
Each prey item posed a challenge that we had to overcome. When brawn fails, brains take over. Mthunzi was the lead huntress. She was smart, powerful and wasn't afraid to take on the world. She knew when to put a lion in their place. She also was hated by Msaliti.
Mthunzi led us out on the hunt with something to prove. Today we weren't hunting buffalo, but something far bigger. This prey was over six meters tall, with legs taller than a lion's entire body. It's kick can break bones. One blow from this creature is the end for you.
Not only does this beast have power, but agility. Reaching speeds of 37 mph.( 55 kmph.) Today I led the hunt for this creature. It's neck was over two meters tall. In order to catch this beast we needed to set a trap.
We watched the creature which is obviously a giraffe fight in a battle for a female. The giraffes swung there necks at each other braking bones. Giraffe vs Giraffe in a death battle. We watched from a safe distance. My plan was this: Me because I'm lazy wasn't in the mood to take on a healthy giraffe, so we would wait for the fight to end and kill the loser.
Now isn't that smart? When I revealed my plan to the lionesses they liked it all except Msaliti. "We are strong enough to challenge that giraffe. Let us go up and fight for our food!" She said. I responded to her idea. "Msaliti, Msaliti. Coming from someone who was kicked by a giraffe, with the scar to prove it, that is a foolish and dangerous plan."
Msaliti was disgusted at the fact that we didn't follow her plan, and her resentment for me grew. "Msaliti wasn't happy about that at all." Said Haki. "She'll get over it." I responded. The fight continued for hours with Msaliti growing restless. "Let's go up and fight!" She barked. "That's walking into a death trap for us." Haki quipped.
"There's two giraffe in that fight, which is double the threat." After 2 hours the fight was over. We chased down the loser into the marsh. The giraffe was running for his life. He ran down into the swamps at 40 mph.(64.37 kmph.)
Now was my time to shine as a leader. We had caught up with the giraffe, and were in close combat range. Three.....Two.....One. LEAP!!! I jumped into the air and onto it's back. Mthunzi jumped for the neck.
The giraffe took over 2 hours to bring down. We ripped open the carcass and filled ourselves with the giraffe meat. The hunt was worth it the meal was ours. But Msaliti' s resentment towards me grew by each day.
