"Tahira" everyone rushed towards her. She was standing on the stairs leading to the terrace, holding a piece of glass in hand. Her expression was a mixture of anxiety and excitement.

She handed the piece of glass to her mom and gestured upwards, "I think you need to look up......the terrace."

The sight of the terrace made up a perfect Agatha Christie crime scene. Bits of broken glass were strewn all over the cemented floor. Tanie noticed a broken glass bottle neck, she picked it up. The partially visible label read 'Barcadi'. "Drunken d*ckhead" she swore under her breath and kicked the remains of the rum bottle aside.

Then her eyes strayed towards a coloured spot at the farthest corner of the roof. It was pitch dark and the faint glow of the bulb was creating illusive shadows. She walked towards the spot and bent down to touch it.

"Stop" Tahira snapped. She directed her torch light towards the spot and began in the grave 'detective's' tone, "its blood!"

Tanie gasped and stepped back, everyone gave the shocked reactions characteristic of Hindi daily soaps. Shanu's mom capped her mouth in horror.

"Don't worry, it's just a few drops" Tahira comforted everyone, "umm....might be a slight cut or......"

"What do you mean by that!" Shanu's mother cried in anguish, "Where is my son?"

"Please aunty lower your voice....he might get alarmed......I know where he is!"

Tahira proceeded to reveal the results of her investigation. No doubt, the family members had searched every inch of ground, looking for Shanu, but Tahira felt differently, she felt as if he was close, hiding at a familiar place and not necessarily on the ground. He had rushed downstairs after his drunken proposal, but he might have crept back when mom was busy calling papa and aunty, he might have....

Not wasting a second, Tahira began striding towards the terrace wall. Then reaching the wall, she jumped!

Yes, she climbed the wall and leapt over it. No! She is not dead. She is perfectly alive. She jumped and landed on the 3 feet lower adjoining terrace.

You know, India has a booming population (thanks to our shyness at chemist shops and the absolute lack of it in bedrooms). To accommodate such a large population, houses have been constructed in rows such that one house shares a wall with the other. We can literally jump from one terrace to another easily.
