August POV:

"Ayo mane who is shawty right there?" I said gazing my eyes on this pretty ass red chick. She was short, I say about 5'4. Very long curly hair, perfect curves and a face to match. Only thing i haven't seen of her was ha ass. I could only imagine." That's Cricket mane" Nick said. "she be running thangs round here." I've neva seen ha round hea." "She's only round durin the summa. Ha family sends ha down here to keep ha busy and out of trouble." Nick laughed. "Little do they know...baby girl is basically living out hea in tha streets."

I was confused. "Wait, what you mean mane? Keep ha busy?" Yeah mane, she's a dancer. Her folks supposedly sends ha down hea to dance camp but I don't think she goes. You always see her in that big blue house on the corner chillin and what not." I had to sit there and think. That house is always busy. Niggas in and out all day and night. She could be a hoe. I sucked my teeth. That killed my dream real quick. "Oh." that's all i said walking down the porch steps. "Lets go mane, its getting dark and im getting hungry. Lets get these last few rocks off us and grab something."

"Iight bet." Nick said walking behind you. I  took one last look at shwaty she was staring at my direction. I didn't know weather to smile at her or what. I just nodded up to her and kept it moving. Right when I was turning my head fully around to face forward ; I caught her give me a slight smile. Walking down the block i caught my self smiling with her face burned in my mind.

Cricket's POV:

I caught my self just smiling in the slight summer wind looking down the block. "Crick" Juice called out to me. "Yeah" i said turning to his attention. "Watching down the fort or looking at the yungin walk away." I was taken a back a bit. he had to been watching me a long time for him to catch me staring that boy down. "uh...uh Jay what are u talking about?' Juice laughed and proceeded to turn around and walk away/ "Iight my bad. You coming in? We about to order a gang a pizza. These niggas in here voting on toppings and shit." I could help but laugh and rolled my eyes. "It will be another fifteen minutes before we have an official vote. Let me see what yall working with." I followed Juice in the house and all I could here was the gang laughing and hollering out what topping they wanted. James was the first one to spot me coming the door. "Aye Cricket! what do u want? I know u like pepperoni and bacon tell theses niggas it don't get any real than that!" I smiled. "Hell yea but you forgot bell peppers too! "That's my girl!" James hollered "That is what I want! Cricket over rules!"

"Wait a minute! I want everyone to enjoy the pizza just as much as I do. Lets do this right!" It was 11 guys. 13 counting me and Juice. So I had to hit them old school and picked the common toppings. Pepperoni, sausage, and Cheese. After i got a vote established among the three, I asked each group belonging to one pizza what extra they wanted to add. With that done each group got two Extra large pizzas. Two because these niggas know they can put away some food!  Problem Solved. After about 35 minutes later when the pizza came all I heard was silence and a few obnoxious smacking on pizza. "It would have taken us another 2 hours of arguing and voting if you hadn't came in and saved the day Crick." Juice said to me. "You know you're the youngest here; and the only female so you kind of like a moms to this house." He was right. Four years ago Juice took me under his wing and showed me the ropes of these streets.I became apart of his "fam" as you could say.

I was about 12 years old my first time coming to New Orleans. My parents would enroll me in to a dance camp during the summer and to stay with my aunt Eva and two cousins, James and Relle. It was suppose to keep me out of trouble and give me a chance to bond with some of my mom's side of the family. I was bonding all right. I kind of felt bad sometimes while im down here. I was lying big time to my folks and aunt Eva doesn't have a clue. As long as i was attending that dance class everyday and Aunt Eva had seen me and my cousins at a decent time in the house before she heads to work. We was good. Now that I'm a bit older Aunt Eva didn't enforced the rules as much. She had got herself a man and she was out just as much as we were, if not more. As long as I was with my cousins and attending class she didn't care where we was and what we was doing. All I remember her saying is: "Don't be coming in my house pregnant and definitely don't come in my house with those drugs!"

" Hey where is Relle?" I haven't seen that nigga all day." James come out the house and grabs a seat next to me on the porch. "He out getting his dick wet somewhere." Juice busted out laughing. "That lil nigga stay out chasing these lil hoes out hea! but hey, you cant knock his ambition" All i could do is shake my head. "Niggas." that all i could say to myself. I looked in the direction down the block where i had seen that boy. He and his friend was coming back up the block  munching down on some hamburgers and each had a drink in their hand. His friend skipped up the steps first and into the house first. He slowed down and looked up to my direction. He smiled and once again nodded up to me. He hopped up the steps and he was gone. His smile sent a warm feeling throughout my body. I soon caught myself smiling. This time i went in the house so Jay wouldn't call me out on it. Was he new? I've never seen him around here before. I know everyone around here. I need to find out who he is. At least know his name. Tomorrow.
