August POV:

I woke up hella early to the sounds of police sirens wailing up and down the street. I sucked my teeth "Man its too early for this shit hea!"  I looked at my phone and it was a little past 8 in the morning. I might as well get up. I woke up, took a piss, washed my hands, showered and got dressed. Right before I walked out my bedroom door I got down on my knees and prayed. I try to make a habit of praying before I head out and before I crash for the night. "Amen" I took one good look in the mirror, smiled to myself and I was out the door. My potna Nick was already up rolling up one while smoking one he had rolled the night before. "Sup Aug." "Sup Mane, you up early." "Pssh you are too nigga." he chuckled. "Yeah mane these streets a bit busy today. All I hear is sirens this morning." I looked towards the window. I seen a patrol car ride slowly past the crib. "What happen mane, did you hear something?" Nick looked up at me with a look of disappointment. "Man..." I'm looking at him waiting for him to finish. "What mane? What happen?"  Nick swallowed. "Someone gunned down Boo..." I was shocked. "Shortly after we ran dry and left; that woman who smoked her shit in front of us wanted some more." I remembered her. She's the reason I decided last night that I was done selling rocks. That shit really ate me up. Crack destroyed my family and killed my dad. I'll be damn if I'll be apart of destroying someone else's family.

"She wanted more? So what she went to Boo? What the hell happened!" Nick pulled in a long hit off the blunt. " Word is that she went to Boo and he served her up." He paused. "The old head spazzed out. she was hooping and hollering all types of shit. She was screaming out his name saying: "Boo this shit is the best shit alive! I love You Boo! Mama is happy! You are my favorite Boo!" I couldn't help but laugh. Crack heads spazzing out sometimes have their funny moments. "Her sons had been looking for her for a while; and when they did it was too late. She was found dead in the ally over there by Ed's food stop shortly after." I felt my heart sink to the bottom of my stomach. "Damn...so you still aint tellin me how Boo was laid." "Someone dropped word that she got her last hit from Boo before she died." Nick swallowed. "They got his ass." I couldn't  believe what I was hearing. Boo was one of the niggas. Hate that he is gone now.

     Cricket POV

As I sat on the porch and watched police ride up and down the street I felt grief stricken. One of my good friends was gunned down. It was buzzing all over the block. "Jay i think imma stay in today." He looked at me as if I was sick. "Why? You scared to be out here now?" "No...I just want to chill out for today. You guys should too. The Block is hot. Too hot. I cant keep an eye on yall with this shit on my mind." Jay just looked at me."You right, but money is to be made and we need to get rid of some of this work." He was right also. 'I'm going to take a walk. Do my daily stroll. See what's going on." I said hoping off the porch. "But i though you said-" "I know what i said. If you wanted to work I got to make sure its one hundred. I'll be back." I walked down to the sidewalk and crossed the street. After about 45 seconds I see that boy walk out the house. My heart immediately starts flustering. What the hell is going on?

August POV:

I couldn't help but stop in my tracks as soon as I got out the door. There she was again. Shawty was looking mad cute walking down the street.. This time I have to speak. I stepped out a little bit more from the house. She looked up at me and smiled. "Hello ma, how you doin'?" I finally got out. She continued to walk but answered "I'm good love, how are you?" Her voice sounded so soft and angelic to my ears. Shawty kept walking down the sidewalk like she was on some sort of mission or something.I had already knew her name but I wanted to know her real name. "Can i get the honna of knowin ya name ma?" She looked back and I really got a good look at her face. She had the most beautiful set of eyes I had ever seen. They were a deep and vibrant green. I was amazed. Ive never seen a female quite like her. "Cricket." I found myself dazing until I heard a snapping noise. Nick had just walked outside. "Nigga I think she talking to you" I shook my head a few times. "Huh? What you said ma?" "Cricket. My name is Cricket love. How about yours?"
