Cricket POV

It was 3 in the afternoon and I was bored out of my mind laying up in my bed. The boys was out and about and I just didn't want to be apart of any activities today. I decided to got home to auntie's house and lay up. I had a lot of thinking to do. This August situation has been buzzing around every hour on the hour. I'm not exactly sure on what to do. How to help him. When I think I am on a start of something my mind wonders on other things like his face, his smile. He had a gorgeous smile. His glare was something serious. Like mine, from what I was told. He probably stared his was into some pussy. A guy like him is always involved with some thot that walks past his way. He is was too fine not to have girls flock to him.

In the mist of the moment I caught myself thinking about things i shouldn't be thinking about. What are you thinking? I asked myself. Now I got to clear my head and start over. I glanced over to my alarm clock and it was 15 minutes to 4. "Oh my god! I'm going to be late!" I stripped out of my sweat pants and t-shirt and ran to my closet. "Madam Clarice is going to kill me!" I said running past my bedroom door and bumping my toe on the corner of the dryer in the laundry room. "Oh....my....FUCK!" I sat down and took a minute to breathe. I stubbed my toe pretty hard and I was trying my best not to cry. I never cry over injuries. Or cry for anything of that matter. I feel like its useless. I feel like its a sign of weakness. Taking a deep breath I decided to skip class. After  this little injury, which is no excuse, I just didn't feel like dancing.

I did feel like baking though. Red velvet cupcakes. "Yeah, that's it. I'll bake or cook something." I said stumbling up and hobbling to the kitchen. I search in the pantry to see if I  had everything. Of course when you want to bake or cook on a whim you are missing a certain ingredient required of what you want to make. I was missing baking soda. Figures. The house has a shit load of it. Might as well make a run over there. I took my time to walk to the laundry room and grabbed a pair of jeggins and a tank top and limped back to my room to grab a pair of shoes.

For it to be the middle of July it felt pretty good outside for it to be four o'clock in the afternoon. It almost felt like fall. Coming down the porch steps I then decided to take the long way to J's house. Nice time to get in some type of exercise since I skipped dance. On my way down the last block I recognized those two punks from earlier this week. The one's face I had sliced up gave me a cold stare. All I could do is flash him a quick smile and a kiss. Nigga think he can scare me, he must have forgot. I kept walking and made my way to the house. "Hello?" I yelled entering the house. "Back here Crick!" Someone yelled back. I made my way to the kitchen and saw Relle hanging out the fridge. "Nigga where the hell have you been? I haven seen you in about a week!"

I've been around...just not around here" he replied back with a slice of pizza hanging out his mouth and a beer in one hand before closing the door. Walking to the cabinets to look for a free box of unopened baking soda I noticed a gun and a camera sitting right next to it. I was concerned and confused but i didn't say a word. "So where have you been Relle? Your mom has asked about you yesterday and I had to cover for you saying you spent the night at a homie's house. What's the deal?" He sat down at the kitchen table and began laughing. "You know you nosey as hell right, but since you good looking out imma let you in on an opportunity of a Nola lifetime."

Relle wasn't one of my favorite cousins. He always up to something no good but I was intrigued and sat down to listen. "what's up?" Ok you heard about this Boo death thing right?" At this moment my heart stopped. I just knew i was about to hear something I didn't want to hear. "Y-Yeah...what about it?" He took a sip of his beer and continued. Within the last 15 minutes I was shocked and disgusted of what I heard. At the same time I finally found a way to help save August.
