{Chapter 7: Lunch with the Bad Boys}
"Katie? Katie, sweetheart wake up. You're running late for school!" Katie's mother said trying to wake Katie up gently.
"Yeah, mom... Wait... I'm late?! Why didn't my alarm go off?!" Katie shouted, getting up as she looked at the clock.
8:10
"I've only got fifteen minutes to get to school! Thanks mom!" Katie smiled as she hurriedly got up. She raced around her room, brushing her hair, slipping on clothes and packing her bag.
She ran down the stairs, throwing the fridge door open and grabbing her lunch. After warming it up a bit in the microwave, she threw it in her bag and she ran out the door, locking it. She checked her phone.

"There's no way I'm making it to school on time! School's fifteen minutes away!" Katie shouted in frustration to herself. And looks like mom and dad already left. Perfect. She thought to herself, noticing her mom left while she was getting ready.
Suddenly, a car horn sounded and Katie looked up, only to find Jack Chapman looking at her from the passenger seat of a sleek red car.
"Need a ride, Miller?"
"Yes! Oh my gosh, you're a life saver, Jack!" She replied happily as she climbed into the back of the car.
"Katie, this is my older brother, Will."
"Nice to meet you, Will!" Katie smiled, breathing hard from rushing around the house.
"Nice to meet you too." Will replied, kindly from the drivers seat.
"So I'm guessing you're running late, princess." Jack smirked, looking at her through the rear-view mirror.
"Yeah. My alarm didn't go off this morning. Anyways, are we almost there?"
"Sort of." Will replied.
"Think you can speed it up, bro? Wouldn't want Katie's perfect attendance record ruined." Jack winked at her.
Will chuckled. "I'll do what I can."
The two got to school with five minutes to spare.
"See you at lunch?" Katie asked as she ran to her locker, Jack running alongside her, his locker being in the same hall as hers.
"Yeah. Don't wuss out, Miller." He winked before walking ahead further down the hall to his own locker.
Why is he only walking??? She thought frantically as she threw her stuff into her locker before running towards the music room. Right. He's a bad boy. He can afford to be late. Lucky.

Later on at lunch..."So let me get this straight." Adela started. "You said yes to an invitation for all of us to eat with the bad boys without telling us?!" She screamed.
"Yeah... I forgot to text you guys last night to tell you about it..." Katie replied sheepishly as they walked towards her locker.
"I don't know about this, Katie..." Danielle replied reluctantly.
"C'mon, it'll be fine. I mean Katie and I spent the afternoon with them and we're perfectly fine!" Sophia encouraged.
Danielle paused to think about it. "...Alright..."
Adela sighed. "There's no way I'm sitting alone. So I'll come too."
"Thank you!" Katie smiled excitedly. She rummaged through her bag, grabbing her lunch. "Now let's go, they should be in the courtyard."
