{Chapter 6: Dinner with Bad Boys}

The four of them sat upstairs at the kitchen island, Cole next to Katie, Jack in front of her and Riker next to Jack.

"So what's for dinner?" Katie asked curiously.

"Pizza!" Riker smiled, happy of the delicious food.

"Here." Jack said, handing her a plate with a slice of pizza on it.

"Thanks." She smiled, taking it as Jack smirked. Just as she was about to took a bite, she paused, remembering who she was eating with. "Wait. What did you do to it?" She asked skeptically.

"Nothing, I swear." Jack promised, putting his hands up.

She glanced at Cole questioningly. "I wouldn't. Remember what I said in the hall?" He replied.

She glared at Riker, almost positive he did something.

"Whoa you can kill someone with those eyes of yours, calm down." Riker chuckled. "You got me. I put hot sauce all over it."

"I knew it." Katie declared, putting the pizza back in the plate.

"You don't like spicy stuff?" Jack asked.

"Yeah. Bad accident with some hot cinnamon hearts once."

"Here. I'll eat it." Jack offered, switching their pizza slices. "I love hot stuff." He smirked, winking in her direction.

Katie could feel her cheeks heat up just a tad as she accepted the new slice. "Thanks."

"Aww is Jackie going soft?" Cole teased as Riker busted out in laughter.

"I don't see you eating anything hot, wuss." Jack replied.

"Not cool, dude. I'm no wuss."

"Fine. Then eat half this pizza, I'll eat the other half. Whoever wusses out first is the wuss." Jack challenged, handing Cole half of the slice.

"You're on, Bro."

"On three. One, two, three." Riker counted as Jack and Cole took a bite at the same time. Cole gripped the island, his face red while Jack looked perfectly calm, eating it as if it was a normal piece of pizza.

"You wussing out, bro?" Jack asked as he took another bite.

"Dude, shut up. Riker how much hot sauce did you put on this thing??" Cole asked.

"The whole bottle."

"I can't do this!" Cole spat out the bite he took and ran to pour himself a cup of water.

"Cole, wait! Water makes it worst!" Katie shouted in laughter.

Too late. By the time Katie warned Cole, he was already chugging down the glass of water. Soon, his face got about two times more red.

"WHY ISN'T THIS WORKING?!" Cole shouted as Jack, Riker and Katie laughed harder.

"Drink milk! It helps!" Katie shouted.

Cole threw open the fridge door and took out the jug of milk, chugging down the whole thing, slowly calming down. "Phew! Never doing that again." He declared as he placed the empty milk jug down, his blonde hair all sweaty.

"Wuss." Jack laughed.

"How can you eat that??" Katie asked in wonder.

"I got dared to drink a full bottle of hot sauce in eighth grade. Ever since I've been used to it." Jack shrugged.

Katie laughed. "Alright then."

Jack looked at her, and Katie looked back, trying to read his face.

"Well, I should probably bet going. My dad's gonna be here soon." Katie said, breaking the silence as she looked at her phone.

"Alright. I'll walk you out." Jack said standing up, following her out.

Jack closed the door behind them as they stepped out, looking at Katie. "Hey Katie, Can I talk to you?"

"Sure, Jack. What's up?"

"I'm sorry for what happened at the dance and everything. I was just kidding around with the guys when I said I slept with you. I guess someone overheard and started spreading rumors." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"It's Okay, but Danielle said that you told her that we slept together." Katie replied, obviously confused.

"Oh that. Yeah that was me. Not too sure why I did it now that I think about it."

"It's fine, Jack. You're not as bad as I thought." She smiled.

"So you think you can handle sitting with us at lunch tomorrow? You and Sophie were cool to hang around with. Especially when you beat my ass at Foosball." He chuckled.

"Sure. Sounds like fun. Just promise me that you won't put hot sauce in my food when I'm not looking."

"I'm not promising anything, princess."

"Fine, be like that." She teased.

"How about you invite your friends too? Just for safety." He winked.

"Much better." Katie nodded, smiling.

Suddenly a car horn sounded through the street, getting their attention.

"Looks like my dads here. I'll see you tomorrow, Jack."

"Okay. Bye." He replied as he watched her walk towards her dad's car.

"Who's that?" Her dad asked as she entered the car.

"A new friend."

~~~~~
"How was dinner, Kate?" Her mother asked as she got home.
"Good. How was dinner here?" She asked.
"Good. I put some leftover pasta in a container for your lunch tomorrow."
"Okay. Thanks mom! I'm gonna head up to my room now."
"Okay. Good night."
"Night. C'mon Fifi!" Katie called as her dog followed her up the stairs to her room. Fifi took her spot in the corner if her room on a dog bed and lied down, watching Katie.
Katie went into the shower and got ready for bed before jumping in her bed, checking her phone.
Had fun tonight. Heard your eating with us tomorrow. Tell your friends I said good luck.
-Cole
P.S. The other guys may or may not have your number now ;) You're welcome :P
Katie laughed at the text before plugging in her phone and covering her self with the blanket.
"Good night, Fifi."
The beagle barked in reply as Katie drifted off into the world of dreams.
You're not as bad as everyone thinks, Jack Chapman.
